One other thing interesting is DERRICK BRASSARD being so high.

Looking at that now it looks like Virtanen is the youngest and Draisatl is the oldest on this list of the top scoring 2014 eligible players. I'd be cool with trading down for Virtanen or Ritchie - two power forwards who are impossible to check and skate very well. Not to mention they have great goal scoring instincts and amazing shots. Virtanen probably has the highest ceiling outside the top 3 he seems as fast as he is strong and hes 6'1 210 already. I wouldnt cry if we traded down and took a power forward type if the top 3 are off the board and we dont want Draisatl.

Why would Burke be BSing about Draisatl? On the off chance that word gets out to klown and he doesn't pick him which allows us to? Sounds a little far-fetched to me.

Simplest and most likely answer is... he doesn't like him.

In my opinion, it would be best for us to move up but not sure who we'd include. Wouldn't be surprised if it was our 2015 first, or both of our 2014 2nd rounders.

In that scenario I think the Panthers could easily take Ekblad #1. He is rated #1 by most scouting services and it's easy to find quotes from a variety of scouts that they have him #1 on their personal lists.

Fan consensus for priority down in Florida seems to be a 50/50 on Ekblad/Bennett, both favoritisms kinda streaky. I'm all for them going for Ekblad because we'll likely land Bennett as a result.

What their fans think is pretty irrelevant. Fans do underrate defencemen at times because they love goals and goal scorers. Scouts and management don't have that same bias. Personally I'd be pretty surprised if they passed on Ekblad if he's available. Like I said the majority of scouts seem to feel he's the best player available this year. And Florida definitively could use a top pairing d-man.

How do you see Bennett slipping past the top 3? That would be amazing as I think he has the highest offensive ceiling in the draft. I dream of us drafting Bennett but I dont want to get my hopes up. That would have to mean something like

1 - Ekblad
2 - Reinhart
3 - Draisatl
4 - Bennett

They have pretty much made their pick priorities known to the world. Ekblad Draisaitl. Oilers easily the highest on Draisaitl right now.

They may consider Bennett/Reinhart if one of them is available, but they already have enough small-medium skill players as it is. Oilers have a big need of size down the middle.

1.) Draisaitl said he'd like to play for Edmonton (can't imagine Ekblad was as enthusiastic)

2.) He's big and NHL-sized already who can drive the offense on the play. (Ironically doesn't play as big as he should)

3.) The whole "Gretzky" nickname thingy

Hope of someone slipping to us aside, I really do think Draisaitl is a good pick for the Oilers.

I don't have a link, but I do remember someone quoting Draisaitl, saying that it would be an honor to play for the Oilers.

So we were all completely fine with him being on the Oilers, gives us a better chance on the other 3 players.

MDC could be a very good consolation prize. I'm no scout but seeing other fans opinions have me thinking it wouldn't be the end of the world. Still think we end up with Bennet, MDC, or Ritchie.

I'm fine with those choices--especially if Bob is around to keep the energy, hard work, and camaraderie.

I just feel like that is internet rumour turned into fact by a collective consciousness. Regardless of their makeup I just find it hard to believe they will pass on any one of Reinhart, Bennett, or ekblad.
