Congrats to Johnny, but IMHO Chris Breen is also the one who deserves a bit of attention for a solid 16:06 TOI and +1. Definitely deserves an extension - important piece for the Abby and pretty much developed Wotherspoon's game this year. I see him as a solid 3rd pairing NHL dman in 2015/16

Yeah there was one shift in the first period around the Vancouver net where Johnny was doing dipsy doodles around Burrows making him look like an idiot out there. My joy was through the roof in that moment.
He only made one bad pass the entire night, which was nothing compared to most of the rest of the team. For a good prospect, you'd hope to see them have an alright first NHL game where they are able to adjust to the pace and just try to keep up, but what scares me (in an amazed way) was that Johnny didn't even have that first nervous/adjustment shift early on. He picked the puck off and fed Byron 5 seconds into his first shift for a golden scoring opportunity, then only continued to impress with his elite vision and quickness from there. In fact, he arguably looked a step ahead of much more seasoned NHL players out there offensively, and was the most dangerous Flame forward from start to finish. That's unheard of for a prospect coming up through our system (well in a very, very long time). Sven got a couple nice breaks in his 5 game stint when he came up.. you could call it opportunistic. But Johnny made his plays happen, he was the catalyst, including on that which resulted in his own goal. He basically quarterbacked the PP at one point, and threaded several incredible passes that the recipients that were so surprised by that they weren't able to get a proper shot off. While he still needs to add some serious weight, it's blatantly obvious that he has the tools to make it at the top level. I didn't think he would look this ready, but he does, and is.
Pumped for 14/15!

Johnny and Monahan were the best flames players on the ice. The kid is at another level in terms of how quick he thinks the game. He gets control of the puck and makes plays so fast. He picks up passes at full speed even when they are in his feet... That's a skill very few in the NHL have. A perfect example of that is seen about 20-30 seconds before his goal.
He's so quick and shifty on his skates that he was making NHLers look silly out there a few times... And this is just his first game.
It was the last game of the season but this isn't the end... This is just the beginning.

His NHL shooting percentage is 100%.
I'm sure some wet blanket will come along and claim that's unsustainable.

That's the way it is now but this fellow doesn't look much bigger than Johnny and he's a double sprint Olympic champion and world record holder.

I thought Gaudreau looked like he belonged out there. He was back checking hard and stole the puck a couple times. Seemed to be making things happen on the ice. Next year is going to be exciting.

Second NHL shift and he's controlling the puck behind the Vancouver goal while being chased around then rifles a pass out front.....wow

As a BC alum, I'm probably the only Flames fan other than Johnny's mom who has somewhat mixed feelings about him skipping his senior year. Still, it's great to see him get his first goal of many as a Flame, and I'm just happy that I'll have the opportunity to keep cheering for him for the next several years just as I have of the past 3.

Actually, it's perfectly sustainable. If Gaudreau never takes another shot on goal, his shooting percentage will stay at 100% forever.
However, I suppose it could cause some other problems if he approached it that way.

SUSTAINABLE!
Actually, I don't even think Johnny moved his stick, which means he didn't actually "shoot" it. So he has one goal on zero shots, meaning his shooting % is undefined. Unstoppable!

HELL YEA JOHNNY, I've been telling people from day 1 (draft day), this kid is set for greatness in the NHL, too much vision, too fast, too skilled. How does 80pts sound in his rookie year.... 25g 55a. The kid will boost the output of anyone on his line. His +/- for good to bad plays is the strenth of his game, the best play he has is a saucer pass cross ice on the tape to someone with a 10 ft radius of being open...... its all about vision and IQ.

I love your attitude, BC, but holy Hanna, 80 points? Are you sure hockey is the only thing you're a junkie for?

We already saw this a couple of times last night.
Threads the needle to a guy who is completely open on the other side of the ice.
