Why shouldn't he follow through with his hit as the puck was there in the boards. Sedin turned just as the hit happened.

No way that's a clean hit, but no way Byron had any intent there.
Saying that he should be suspended for that, because that was a hit in a very dangerous location. Great example of how you don't need to be a big player to possibly seriously injure someone when their back is facing you by the boards.
Think more hits from behind should be suspendable because every hit from behind in the boards could result in this. That's why it's such a dangerous play.

The hit wasn't vicious. Bad result but I'll bet you can find plenty of examples of that exact hit where the player skates away and there is no penalty.
Stop reacting to the result and just look at the hit.

Not sure why he would also leave. They said Daniel is still in the building under observation. That doesn't scream major injury since they didn't take him to the hospital.
That's assuming they are correct that he didn't go to the hospital yet.
