Default Help with Medical volunteer programs

Hey guys, I thought I would put this out there! My wife is an RN and is trying to help coordinate a trip with a group of medical professionals. The goal of the trip is to travel outside of Canada and perform surgeries for people who are too poor and who would otherwise have to go without.

So far there is a Surgeon, Anesthetist, plus RN's etc that are wanting to go. They have been contacting different organizations and doing some general searches for places to serve but coming up empty handed. Its amazing that they are having that much trouble finding some place at all......at least to me anyways! The team would setup and give medical help for about a week and then return to Canada.

Any Cpers have any contacts/recommendations to share or experience doing something like this? Thanks!

Isn't this what Doctors Without Borders is mainly about, or is that predominantly about the MDs and not the other medical professionals and staff?

I think that is the general idea, although some programs require a longer time commitment. Thanks for the ideas guys. Anyone else???
