It probably won't matter, it would take an extra effort to lose to the Canucks tomorrow. I guess playing on home ice might have give the Nucks a bit of extra zip in their step, but I just don't see it happening.

Despite all the vitriol and hatred between the fan bases, congrats on a 18 year NHL career Ryan. Nobody can question your work ethic and passion. Not a lot of players leave the game with the amount of respect you earned. It's unfair that Kevin Lowe squandered away any chance you had to be a champion.

Oiler or not, Smyth deserved that send off. That was really nice from all involved.
Props to the Canucks for coming out to congratulate him too. Some may think it's a rip off on what Iggy did for Linden, but you have to take those good acts and pay them forward. Good stuff.

I feel bad for Torts in a way, as I still like the guy. Will another team give him a chance if the Canucks let him go? I would hope so, but his reputation and coaching ability has really eroded the past couple years (I'll admit maybe for good reason). He was really dealt a brutal hand this season though.

my guess is not next year, he takes at least a season, could see Sportsnet hiring him, and someone re-hires him in 2-3 years
