Game Highlights should be up within an hour (usually). I will have them all posted in the Heat/IceHogs game thread as they come out.

Another solid night for Sven. Caps off a good weekend for him.

1g, 1a, 2 SOG and a +2. His goal was the GWG.

Currently riding a 5 game point streak where he has 4g, 6a.

Has 7 points (3g, 4a) in the 2 games this weekend.

He also had a solid blocked shot after the Hogs got within 1.

Congrats to #AHLHeat forward Sven Baertschi on taking home CCM/AHL Player of the week honours. 7 pts (3-4-7) in 2 games. Kid is on a tear.

He got a really lucky on his 5 point game as almost anything he touched was ending up in the net. I still think he needs to get a bit faster and work on creating more scoring opportunities for himself before he makes the jump to the NHL.

True, but he's had this "luck" for quite a few games now. Crosby needs to get lucky to get 5 points too, but the consistency surrounding it suggests it isn't all luck

I think Baerstchi's 50/50 at best to be on the Flames starting line-up next season. Granlund has caught up to him and will be battling with Sven for a spot in the line-up. Gaudreau will be serious threat as well.

Cammalleri probably won't be back but the Flames will sign other UFAs.

Sven main problem is his strength imo. That takes time to develop. For me, he seems similar to Kadri in development. Kadri was up and down between the NHL and AHL for his first 3 years as well.

I really think Sven can hit it off with Sean and Joe as a solid 2nd/3rd line.

Granlund is a nice looking player but I still don't see him as the same skill level as Sven's. One never knows but I try to look at absolute upside.

Granlund = 2nd liner with 50-70 point potental

Baertschi = 1st liner with 70-90 point potental

If that is our 3rd line next year, we will be in the playoffs........and we signed a bunch of pretty good free agents.

Joe Colborne had 10 goals and 27 points next year if he is on our 2nd line we are in the bottom 5 in the league again no matter which free agents we signed.

Yeah, because Colborne surely won't get any better.

Who said he wouldn't?

Is it really likely that he is going to get so much better that his numbers will basically double? That seems pretty unlikely.

You're forgetting that he wasn't a RW the whole time. His numbers as a RW is pretty good, and him paired with Monahan is starting to pan out very well now.

Don't be surprised if this kid puts up 35-40 points next year, I see a 15 goal, 20-25 assists kind of season.

It's possible and I am very happy with his development this year he just doesn't look to me to have a lot of offensive skill and I think he is a 10-15 kind of guy and an effective 3rd line winger for the team going forward.

Not to turn this into an Colborne thread, but I agree. The vibe I get from Colborne is a very solid David Moss like player. Fantastic Third liner and can be a strong Second liner in his prime. I think he's really progressed since the beginning of the year, he's a much more complete player than he was in those 5-8 games.

I hope Sven has a good playoff run with this team, gives him more and more experience, enough experience that he can be ready to come back to the team. I really am not losing hope on this guy.

(For those that know the AHL roster better than I do), who are his line mates for the most part?

I really think that he will make the NHL roster next year and tear it up with us. He deserves it because of how much we all expected of him to play really well once Iggy left. We had no one else to look at and after scoring 3 goals in his first 3 games, we had high hopes for him again. We all learned from our mistakes, and made sure we didn't do the same with Sean. Now that Sven has had work in the AHL, I again will say i won't be surprised if he makes the top 6 next year.

In our perfect world, Sven and Johnny are our top 2 line wingers. For that to happen, we will definitely need another center or right winger that has good size at least later on in the future.

Hopefully Sven gets some motivation from the other young guys joining Abbottsford. Always liked Sven and did not believe he deserved to be demoted. Don't get me wrong, AHL should help him not hurt him. Its just he does remind me somewhat of Alex Tanguay. Hopefully we can correct that at his young age.

Oh as for Colbourne, I like the kid, played better and better as the season went on but....... Wow does some one need to work on his acceleration, his first step is so slow. Nice hands nice sized body, if we can work on his acceleration he could definitely be a top six winger for us.
