Pretty sure the top vehicle were older Ford SuperDutys.
F-150 moved to the PATS keys a full 10 years before the Superdutys did.

Modern vehicles with the chip keys are very seldom stolen, which is why stolen vehicle numbers are dropping.

Are people saying police can't find out if a car is in the impound lot with a licence plate number? I'm pretty sure they can.

Also, if I came back and found my car was stolen, count me in the "hey 911, my car was stolen!!!" camp. To me that's a 911 call, never would have occurred to me that it would be abuse of the system or not worthy of that call, until this thread.

No,it seems to be "The police will know this information automagically without consulting the impound lot" that is the crux of the debate.

Different people have different definitions of "need police right now". In situations like that, I look at it this way. If I call and have police show up right now, this very second, what are they going to do? Do I need police to come right here, right now, or is this something that maybe isn't a life or death, crime in progress emergency? I guess, that for me, 911 has always been "I need (police/fire/ambulance) at this exact location RIGHT NOW!". Mainly because the bad guy is still there doing something, or the accident victim is laying there bleeding (or hurt, really), or the fire is burning. For most anything else...the non-emerg number is pretty easy to remember, fast to dial, and likely would suit just fine.

Different thresholds for different people, is all.

No, people are saying that the police have the exact same access as any other citizen would when calling impound.

Nuclear headlights guys grind my gears. And they're almost always on tall dumb trucks with dumb truck drivers who speed right up behind you and tailgate you (even on single lane loads). So at 530 in the morning on my drive to work my car is lit up like the middle of the day and I can't look out at any of my mirrors without it looking like the center of the sun.

Seriously, it's completely unnecessary during city driving and dangerous to other drivers. Your regular headlights are brighter than my brights. They have to be putting some kind of law in against these things. A guy can get a ticket for a tinted window but seems to be able to relentlessly blind everyone he approaches or passes with no penalty.

Could probably make a sitcom to rival Seinfeld out of this thread.

This is the CP thread about nothing.

People who take their shoes off in the office GMG. It's gross.

All I want to do when I go to TSN.ca is watch highlights. What do I get? 30 second clips of maybe 2 goals, possibly a save and then the final score sheet. Unless it's a Leafs game. Then you get a 5 minute analysis of every possible situation and event that could have happened.

Watching the Flames/Kings highlights. It starts off with Stajan scoring, then skips to it being 3-1 for the Flames. Maybe those goals were boring, I don't care. I want to see what happened, not just "And tonight, a hockey game happened. The Flames did something, we think. Possibly won a game. We're not sure. Back to the Leafs!"

If you go to NHL.com and use the boxscores, you can watch goals one by one - so you can pick and choose which ones you can watch and not even watch the other teams if you don't want to.

Roomate RGMG

A few days ago the cable bill showed up. So I payed my half, put the bill on the kitchen counter and wrote $57.15 on the bill so he would know how much to pay.

So roommate comes up to me today and says, "uhh no last month I payed the extra cent, I'll pay them 14 cents and you pay them 15 cents this time, we will switch every month."

The penny situation never even crossed my mind before, like, who the hell cares? A PENNY!. He thinks I was trying to come out ahead by making him pay the extra cent. I'm going to start calling him Goldstein.
