Im doubtful for sure. He has had months to think about what he was gonna do when his season ended. I would think there is at least a very real chance that this doesnt get done.

Huge thanks to Dion for the signature!
If Burke can pull off this signing I may forgive him if Cammy walks for free.
I'm confused. Your post is either incredibly balanced and fair, or it's incredibly ridiculous. All dependent on your feelings and thoughts that cannot be deciphered via the the on-line medium. Oh the internet!
If he isn't signed by the draft then they have to trade his rights, no?
Flames can probably turn him into a first+ this year with all the hype.
Union muscled him out of the game. NHL will be an order of magnitude tougher.
I am not saying that he won't work out. Just that there is a big chunk of risk, and maybe a 1st and prospect would be less risky (albeit maybe less upside).
"I gotta figure it out here in the next day or tonight, thankfully i'm here in Philly with my family and we can talk to all my family members about that and see whats best for me and whats best for my career." - Gaudreau
I think some of it is the fact that he just got knocked out and is rattled. He needs a day or two to get over it a bit more. I bet we see him signed Saturday.

Perhaps he already knows but is waiting to make his announcement because (1) he wants to decompress from the loss and not tie him leaving the program early so closely to BC being eliminated and (2) being the only underclassman finalist he wants to respect the optics of the NCAA's Hobey Baker and still be a student athlete when he wins the award (the other two finalists college careers are over and are in a different position).
Pretty big decision - I don't blame him for taking a few days even if he's sure of his decision now.

No one in their right mind would trade that much value for Gaudreau after he's announced that he's staying in school. Basically all you're acquiring is the exclusive rights to negotiate with him from April until he becomes a UFA in August.

Let's go with balanced and fair then. I hate controversy.

No one should read anything into the take a couple of days thing. It's just normal process. Today was about his college career and that potentially coming to an end. It's a sad and also an opportunity for him to celebrate his accomplishments with his family and team mates. He'd look back on this experience and not be happy with himself if he didn't soak it all in, the good and the bad because he was in a rush to sign his NHL contract.
Plus, imagine the optics if after losing out, he announced his signing. People would question if he was looking beyond his last game at BC and how that impacted things.
No need for him to rush or make decisions when he's emotional .

I'm quite sure John Gaudreau has already decided what he's going to do, in post game scrum says he'll make decision tonight or tomorrow

Exactly my point. Allow his college career to stand alone by giving it a couple days before he officiall starts his NHL career.

Because I missed the last period...
For the last five minutes after I read this post I was frantically searching through the GT/GDT and then the rest of the internet for mention of a head shot on Johnny that knocked him unconscious on the ice, then I realize you meant the team.
Dammit man.
