Interesting read about Iggy. He's really flourished with the Bruins this year. I don't like the Bruins, but I'll put that aside to see him lift the Cup.

I don't think he is getting more success in Boston than in Calgary but I am glad he's playing well this season. Just imagine if he was playing with a good natural center and not being keyed on every game by 2-3 players and he's got some supporting cast who can also score while playing in Calgary. I think his career stat might be much better right now. I sure hope he wins the Stanley Cup this season or soon.

I actually kind of hate this success and good fit crap we keep on hearing he's having with the Bruins, because the more he does this and the longer it goes on, the more the hockey world will remember him as a Bruin, and slag the Flames, which is bull****.
That's my sentimental 2 cents

Best season in years? Maybe in terms of team success (obviously), but, excluding his 31 games with Calgary last year, he's on his lowest point-per-game pace since 1999.
Sure, a lot of that is to do with his body wearing down, but I feel like "it’s not hard to see that Boston’s been a far better home to him than Calgary was the past few seasons" is unnecessary..

Last full season in Calgary - 32 goals and 67 points
This year in Boston - 30 goals and 61 points
Not much difference... I'm sure his corsi or whatever is better but that's going to happen when you go to a much better team.

Corsi numbers were first used by a former NHL goalie/current NHL goalie coach in his 50s. So, pretty much the polar opposite.

Well the big difference is in +/-. Last season with the Flames he was -7. This year he's +34 (easily his career high). He's playing on the best line he ever has or will. If he got to play with this kind of line in his prime he might be leading the NHL in points.

Jim Corsi is a pretty brilliant guy.
Besides playing pro hockey, he also played pro soccer as a teenager.
He graduated from Concordia with his engineering degree and is fluent in 4 languages.
He is close friends with Ken Dryden.

Iginla looks like a night and day player in Boston. He's contributing mmeaningful minutes instead of getting his cookies.
The Bruins don't measure a successful season in goals scored, they measure it in wins.
He can't shoot like he used to, but that doesn't matter because offense isn't winning games for them.

Like it remembers Ray Bourque as an Av?
Iggy, did a tonne here in Calgary off the ice.
If you recall in his heyday he was doing Rome interviews and was pushed hard by the NHL Marketing team. All this was done as a Flame.

My post was in no way trying to discount the intelligence of Jim Corsi, sorry if it came off that way. I'm one of the (minority?) on this site that believe that possession numbers are very telling when it comes to judging the even-strength proficiency of a hockey team.
