Really liked Van Brabant's game before the turnover. He's played better in every outing and is looking like he could be a pretty good bottom 6 guy.
Agreed. There was one sequence along the boards where one handed the puck, while bumping aggressively into the defenceman, high in the offensive zone. That one sticks out for me. He throws his body out there. Good to see.

Maybe if Bouma goes back to center next year, we can see a BVB-Bouma-Westgarth line next year... I think Westgarth deserves to be resigned as a one year, 1M 2-way contract.
It means a few things for Mony; all of which are positive.
1.) Sean was deployed defensively in the Flames' zone the vast majority of the time. Not only is his corsi nearing 45-50 range (slightly more shots on goal by LA vs SOG by Calgary) while Monahan was on the ice, he's managing to keep that ratio near dead even in a game where LA fired a massive amount of shots at Ramo. He even scored.
2.) Hartley is feeding him more and more minutes with increasing difficulty, and Monahan is thriving in his two way play. As a 19 year old rookie on a talent starved Flames team this is pretty huge.

Thanks. I appreciate the information advanced stats provide but for the life of me I can't get my head around the terminology
Didn't Al MacInnes also have a penalty shot against LA in the 1990 playoffs game 1 against Hrudey. Also scored on that one.
Not sure, but I was in attendance in Game 1 against the Habs in 1986.
My brother-in-law (ardent Habs fan) had driven up from Regina for game 1 and he was sitting beside me, resplendent in his Habs jersey. That goal by MacInnis toned down his cheering)))
