On topic... with his recent hot streak does anyone know / think it's likely we see him called up for a game before the end of the season? Seems like he's certainly deserving at the moment.

This should be great for Baertschi's confidence. Hopefully this helps him propel into the playoffs with a chip on his shoulder (chip as in confidence).

I wouldn't think so. I think the Flames are fairly intent on having the young impact players stay on the Heat from now on as the Heat are in the midst of a playoff push.

For instance, I think part of the reasoning as to why the recalled Cundari was to avoid pulling any more bodies from defence on the Heat. I am sure they want to take a look at Cundari and have a firsthand look at him to see if they should re-sign him or not, but I am betting they didn't want to touch Abby too much more.

Baertschi is doing great down there and on a roll. I would just let him continue focusing on where he is at.

Kind of pointless especially given that his game in the AHL is finally rounding into form. Better for him to carry that momentum into the AHL playoffs as he's a guy that really needs to have his confidence up over the summer.

Sven is just putting in the time most players need in the AHL. It is nice to see some positives and I hope he can keep it up and be a key player for the Heat in the playoffs. I agree that there is no reason to even contemplate when to call him up. With the depth the Flames have at LW he will need to have a great camp next season to crack the lineup.

Crazy how our once best prospect is now almost an afterthought. He's got a long way to go before he gets a regular NHL shift, maybe he's finally growing out of whatever bad habits Hartley saw in him

He doesn't have *that* long a ways to go. A good training camp, with continued hard work and with Cammi gone a spot on the roster this fall is quite achievable.

Good for Sven. Getting that confidence back is going to be HUGE going forward. We all knew he had the talent. But he needed to learn how to be a pro. The pressure got to him the first time. Now its all bout being rock steady in the head. Hopefull this is a sign of great things to come.

There was never any doubt that he'd get back to producing imo. I think he could have stayed up just as easily as he was sent down this season but at the end of the day I think this time in the AHL will do him some good. As soon as he puts on a few pounds of man weight and finds his groove I have no doubt he'll be a top six player for us.

This is still easily my favourite goal of this season and it was a great pass showing Sven sees the game at a high level:

Assuming that Monahan is no longer in the conversation, I think it is fair to say that Sven is still our best prospect, no?

I'd imagine a lot of people would vote for Gaudreau at this point. He's at the stage where he's on the cusp of hitting the pro game so that junior/college hype is at an all time high.

Some votes would go to Poirier too, maybe Gillies.

Agreed, Poirier and Gaudreau would have to be included in that conversation. Sven nd Gaudreau are about tied IMO.

Granlund has been stellar this year too. That guy will put up tons of points in the coming years.

He's shown more than Baertschi has at the AHL level and has shown that he can put up points in the NHL. He's still pretty underrated here among people who don't follow abby IMO.

Granlund.... Man I wish he didnt get injured. I dont think we'd be calling him a prospect anymore either. He's going to be amazing as well.

I think only a small minority would consider him an after-thought.

With Monahan graduating out of the conversation, I would consider Baertschi and Gaudreau the top 2 prospects in the organization. Obviously, other people would have differing opinions, but he is a long way from being an after-thought.

I also agree with those who think he should stay in the A for the remainder of the season. He is finally starting to roll and doesn't need the confusion, distraction, and pressure of a call-up.

He needs to focus on his game and come back to camp much stronger next year

Sometimes I think that Feaster was secretly rebuilding for the last couple of years. We're dressing like 7 rookies every night, we're winning games and, aside from Monahan and Brodie, our best prospects aren't even in the show.

Awesome to see baertschi doing well... I think Hartley and Burke were a little harsh with him but if it ends up helping his game then I guess it's worth it. I hope he keeps up his strong play into the playoffs and I also hope he makes the big club out of camp next year.

Knight getting his first AHL hat trick I can understand as bigger news (or just as big) but 45 saves, while impressive, isn't as impressive to me as 2g3a in a single night.

That would be like saying Gillies win in the NCAA tourney was move impressive than Gaudreaus 3g3a game. Just because the team in front of Gillies isn't that great and BC is a bit of a powerhouse.

Thats just my opinion anyways.
