Can this mystery get even more twisted? The last words from the cockpit were not "All right, good night."

More security checks in screening passengers and tracking aircrafts.

I've heard that prairie people make the best deep sea sailors as they are used to not having any landmarks.

At this point I really don't know what to think. So much info, then retracted info, then speculative info, then new info, then maybe info, and then hopeful info, then tragic info, then delayed info, then guess what we were wrong info, it's a bird, it's a plane..nope it's just a boat....who knows what the F is actually going on. It's almost become comical at this point. I've been through that emotional rollercoaster regarding the fate of loved ones, but even given my experience I still cannot fathom the confusion, frustration, desperation, anger and outright fury that these family members must be going through in front of the world. At least I had the chance to do all of that and then grieve in private.

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but is it not possible the plane made a slow descent and soft landing on the ocean surface and sank as a complete unit, eliminating the notion of ocean surface debris? It seems to me they keep shifting search zones as it would be unlikely for so many vessels and planes to not find anything if they were in the right general area. So, they are looking in the wrong place or there is no surface debris to be found?

Or, is there too much pressure at the sort of ocean depths we are talking about and it would be impossible for the plane to not break apart and at least some debris rise to the surface?

Possible- sure. It's also possible the Flames could call me up to play for next season.

The reason the Hudson river landing worked, and is called a miracle, is that the water was perfectly still. Even so, the issue is that unlike crashing on dirt or even concrete; once the first part of the plane hits the water it will slow down more than the other parts. So land tail first. and the tail slows to 20 MPH while the front is still doing 200 MPH.

Look up Ethiopian Airlines flight 409; which up until the Hudson River crash had been the most successful water landing; in that ~20% of the passengers survived. That was also close to shore (which is why there's video) where the waves wouldn't have been as big.

It's more the isolation and zero chance of survival mixed with the scale that makes me sick.

Another "major announcement" allegedly coming in an hour or two as to developments in the search. Here we go again....

I heard the Malaysian government has major evidence about the crew's involvement in this, not sure if it was the pilots or other crew members.

Could it be this one?

I hope it's search related, and nothing to do with the crew.

... If it's the latter, you can cue the political conspiracy chatter again.

I thought this interesting and post worthy. It was written by a Canadian pilot who seems to be certain it was an electrical fire:http://www.wired.com/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/

It's been discussed, and it's a plausable theory if the plane hadn't of made several more direction changes after the initial turn back towards that island. It made a couple more directional changes after that though, so it doesn't add up.

BREAKING: A Chinese ship has detected a ping on the same frequency as the black boxes, which could be from #MHS370

Wow this is big news. Unless there was another plane crashed in the vincinity in the last 30 days, how could this not be from MH370?

In the article posted it said these pings can also come from fish and boats. I wouldnt be too optimistic.

Considering how much area they have to cover if they found it already I would be shocked, especially without any debris field to narrow the search. Maybe it's China's turn to put out some overly optimistic information that turns out false.
