Bennett- plays with great ammount of fire and passion in this game
- almost single handedly brought Kingston up from a losing culture
- taken the Fronteacs by the boot straps and dragged them along on his back all season
- not huge but plays a really phyisical style
- very chippy and agressive player and a real agitator and agressor
- plays as hard in the offensive zone as the defensive zone
- very complete player and not a whole lot not to like about his game
|
The bold part is what makes me just a tad nervous. Can he transfer his physical game to the NHL without getting injured?
Still, if he's what's left for the 4th pick, I'd take him.

He's 6'0" 178. in a couple of years he'll be the right weight. He'll be just fine up in the NHL. Dustin Brown is 6'0" and 202 fully developed. Thats as close to a comparison as you're going to get physically.

|
I'm not punishing Bennett at all (sorry if I gave that impression, but I am not seeing how I did).
I'm just saying that Draisaitl shouldn't be discounted because he started lower and rose through the season. You have to consider the possibility that if it is based on improvement and not just an initial under-ranking, that he could eventually surpass the others.
And I would say that he isn't necessarily in the next tier past the top 3. Many people now include him with the top tier.

Yeah, in a couple of years. I'm going on the premise that these first 4 guys are talented enough to step into the NHL next season. Bennett though talented enough may need another year in junior just to fill out. I'm not saying he isn't ready, just that his playing style is a consideration.

IMO, Draisaitl and Ekblad are the only ones with NHL ready size but then again. I think all of them need another year with their perspective junior clubs.

You can't base player value accurately upon how much they fetched at this year's draft. Don't forget how Garth Snow really ####ed everyone over by holding out. The asking prices were projected higher.
And Vanek was sold for peanuts. Adequate.

Finally getting into primo pick territory and then having someone behind us win the lottery would be such a dick punch.

If Florida take the #2 overall spot and pick Ekblad, I'm pretty sure this will end up happening. If not, Draisaitl/Bennett lands in our laps.

Sean Monahan and Sam Bennett would be a nice 1-2 punch.
Best since Nieuwendyk and Reichel.

Burke said he doesn't like high numbers, it would have to be 39.

One question - why is everyone under the impression that Edmonton wants Draisitl? Why wouldn't they want one of the big 3 (Reinhart, Ekblad or Bennett) that most of us want?
Did I miss an interview where Edmonton pumped him up? Or is it just because he's 30 lbs heavier? He's about the same height as Reinhart and 2" taller than Bennett.

I don't see why burke would care about a jersey number being high or low.. Makes no sense
If the kid wants to wear 93 then let him
