 Uh huh...
I speed a bit here and there, but every single December when I have to renew my plate, it seems I have a photo radar ticket or two to deal with as well. Sick of those tickets so speeding is becoming not an option anymore. Tired of paying a "stupid" tax for getting somewhere 2 minutes sooner.

I drive Glenmore every day -- the flow was 80-90 there over the winter as people and cops gave up on the construction zone speed. Now that the snow is gone and the cops have re-appeared it's definitely dropped down to ~70 during rush hour for people going through there. Hardly dangerous to follow the speed limit now -- I do.

Yes, speeding in general is not smart, but staying with the flow of traffic is.

I'll follow the sign now as well if that's the case. My only point was staying with traffic flow is way safer than being the only guy to slow down 30 kph.

Which is fine in theory, but if they have photo radar setup, they will certainly nail some of the people and odds are, with my luck, it's going to be me. Tired of paying tickets. I'll slow down and avoid the "stupid" tax.

If it is dangerous then someone should report it to the city.
I don't live in Calgary, but I try to follow the signs when I am driving in town so I would be inclined to slow down to the speed limit if the sign is posted. especially knowing how often Calgary likes to put up speed traps. I have seen more driving in Calgary while visiting then I see living in Grande Prairie and driving every day.
On that note, does the City use the 'SeeClickFix' app? If is used in a lot of cities where you can report any issues and the city will respond and fix the problem.

Enjoy the tickets Duff. I too enjoy going faster than the limit, but can't afford it.

I think photo radar is the oblivious tax, I speed everywhere except playground zones and haven't been nabbed by photo radar in 10 years. They are so obvious to spot I don't know how people get nabbed.

It RGMG when people say ''my grandmother skates better then x player". Um, no should couldn't. If she somehow manages to not fall on the ice and break her hip, one check and she will be paralysed for life. I know it's just a figure of speech, but it's the most terrible example to use.

You're right. There are signs wherever they have photo radar. There are times where a cop might nab you if he happens to be pacing or behind you, but for the most part the signs are there. It's just so easy to speed and not even think about it or see the sign and then boom, you get it. I got nabbed twice this year and the locations are clearly marked, Just busy with other things on my mind and forgot about the spots. I find it easier to simply try to follow the speed limit for the most part and then I don't have to worry about the tickets at all.

You can also buy a radar detector with GPS that has the locations flagged. My colleague has one and it would definitely help in areas of the city you aren't familiar with.

The problem with that- do many people use GPS on a regular basis in town? For example, I live in the deep SE and my last photo radar ticket was in the NW. I was driving on 16th ave, on my way to Deerfoot. Even though I don't live up there, I wouldn't have needed a map or directions.
