Well, there's tons of time until July 1st; that's still plenty of time for the Flames and Cammy to hammer out a contract that works for both sides.

There's two parts to a deal. Cammy isn't going to take a risk to sign a one year deal even at 7 million if there's a 5x5 out there.

I think the hitch is definitely the term the Flames offered. Of course I don't know the inner workinf of whats been going on but the dollar amount is inconsequential as the Flames have tons of cap to play with. So term is the issue and I fully understand if the Flames aren't going to pony up the years. There's more than a few players coming up through the system that will be chomping at the bit after next season.
Add to that, Hudler will stay and the Flames could go out and Dump money AND Term on a guy like Vanek if needed.

If we have to lose Cammy, Burke better run the phones July 1st and get us a good vet replacement who can put up similar offense, cause it's a pretty big hit if you're losing your top scorer who can bring 20-30 goals. While he's at it, maybe he can get some size.

And if what happens this year happens again next year and Burke gets low balled and doesnt trade him?
Or an injury prevents him from being traded?

yes but it's not like the other teams are going to be paying him pennies on the dollar, he will still get a fair deal... he may not get as much as Calgary can offer, but he can pick his contending team from the start of a multi-year contract

Burke on the Fan 960 says the contract offer is still on the table and hope Cammalleri comes back.
Burke says Ryan Kesler screwed up the trade market, says it tied up 6 teams waiting for Kesler which had a domino effect on Vanek and Moulson.
