Yeah, Detroit is crazy with talent development. They always strike gold somewhere in the draft. Nyquist is gonna be a big time player for them for years to come. And another savvy swede to their collection as well.

Makes you wonder about kids like Anton Karlsson in this years draft.

Detroit sucked at development for awhile but their current Grand Rapids crop looks great and is pretty much winning their games for them. Billins spent a year in their system before signing with us

Sami Salo cuts the lead to one goal with 4 minutes to play in the third

Detroit hangs on and now has the first wild card seed with 75 GP two points up on Columbus but CBJ has a game in hand. 4 points up on Washington who has one game in hand and 4 up on Toronto who has played 1 more game than Detroit.

It's likely over for Toronto...

Penguins up 2-0 on the Hawks right now. Chicago has looked average to poor for quite a stretch of games now. Toews, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook and Crawford all looking very average and Kane is injured. They better figure things out soon!

I'm cheering for Edmonton today. If they get at least a point, they move ahead of Florida. If the rumours that they're super high on Draisaitl are true, perhaps Florida taking Ekblad ahead of them leaves one of Reinhart or Bennett there for us (assuming the Islanders pass us, which is a massive assumption).

Looking at the remaining schedules for both the Flames and Isles, I'd put the odds of the Isles passing the Flames @ 2/1 . Flames will get fourth pick. Barring a lotto win from a team higher in the standings.

Regardless of their size, Edmonton would be foolish to pass on either of those players.

So yeah, I'd say the chances are good.

They do have an easier schedule than us ... but they're also the Islanders.

NSH up 2-1. A win by them would make them uncatchable if they aren't already.

Even me, the super pessimist, thinks they're already safely out of reach.

Orpik just crushed Toews on, what looked like a clean hit. Looked like Toews left shoulder was out of socket. Went to the dressing room.

Patented Taylor Hall rush on display. Head down, blaze up the wing, turnover.

Oh Edmonton how do you expect to win any games with 7 shots on goal...it needs to be at least...3 times as much!
