I think the Flames blue line depth is under-rated in terms of prospects.
That is largely because Kulak, Culkin, Sieloff and Wortherspoon have all developed nicely since being drafted. (Sieloff has had a lost year but was talked about as a call-up before the season started)

Your thinking of kulak. Culkin plays for the Rempart s in QMJHl.
Edit: OK I see what you did. Just was not that funny.

What kind of game is culkins?
Someone with better knowledge should start a thread with just our defensive prospects with their point totals... Projections ... Etc

22 years old
-Junior team: Quebec Remparts
-Left Shot
- 6'1 188 (will probably end up somewhere at 200ish)
- Playstyle is a puck-moving two-way d-man with some size. Like a bit of Kris Russell but bigger. Wotherspoon-like calmness and smarts. Decent work ethic. Needs to play smarter in o-zone.

What I remember about him is that he's a late birthday, so he could have played in the AHL this season. Feaster dangled a pro contract if he could impress at camp but it didn't work out.

If he's Kris Russell with size, that's a star player.

AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

This kid impressed me a lot at development camp. I always look at skating first on the young guys, and this kid has very good agility and quickness. Especially for a fairly large dman. He impressed me more than Kulak by a longshot in that regard. Nice to see his height and weight have increased. Very positive about this prospect.

Culkin was juuuuuust a bit shy of making the Heat coming out of rookie camp, but I guess it was decided that it was better for him to get a full year being a big-minutes guy in the Q than being potentially lost in the shuffle with Ramage, Sieloff and Wotherspoon in Abbotsford this year.

I feel like the Heat is being packed more and more with our actual drafted prospects as opposed to AHL-lifers. This makes me really excited.
(I could be totally wrong about this and maybe I've just paid more attention to the heat in the last few years)

it's actually not so much a quantity thing, but it's a completely different story when it comes to quality. For example, in 2010-11 there were more Flames draft picks in Abby than this year:
2010-11 (16): Brodie, Nemisz, Cunning, Patterson, Bouma, Armstrong, Baldwin, Negrin, Pelech, Wahl, Watt, Grantham, Carpentier, Irving, Keetley, Ortio
2013-14 (10): Reinhart, Granlund, Baertschi, Ferland, Nemisz, Wotherspoon, Ramage, Sieloff, Ortio, Brossoit
Plus Kulak will probably join them and maybe a couple other junior/college prospects.
Looking at these two years you can really see how the Flames' drafting has improved over the last few years.

Definitely has, how is the comparison if we include "prospects" e.g. Knight + Hanowksi, etc...?
(There may have been more "prospects" in 10-11 too I suppose)

I only see Logan MacMillan ... a 1st round bust who came over from Anaheim. The rest was free Agent signings by the Flames (Breen, Cameron) and AHLers (Meyer, Stone, Laing, Keith etc).

Burke should consider hiring Jay Feaster as his GM.
