There's really no good reason that all hits to the head shouldn't be penalized. It's the same concussion regardless of intent.

This issue has been on my mind recently, as I've been made aware of this story that I think everyone should watch. You hear about CTE and the long-term effects that concussions can have, but it doesn't hit home until it gets someone you know - Rick Williams was one of my gym teachers in junior high.

And if you suddenly run into the path of a car, should the driver be charged? Same injuries, after all. Players who put themselves into dangerous positions don't deserve to see their teams rewarded for their stupidity.

Of course you dont. But you are so biased on this matter that your opinion means virtually nothing. Especially on this very board.

I've made one post on this whole matter. How am I so biased? Because I am a Canucks fan? I calls it as I sees it and to me the point of contact were similar in both hits. I wasn't asking for Niņo to get a huge suspension, I was just hoping for some consistency when it comes to these types of plays.

bolded to illustrate the definition of bias.

I don't like hits to the head, but the point of contact was clearly in front of burrows, but he should have been able to see it coming. Not saying it was the cleanest of hits (obviously) but imo, this is a non issue if burrows is paying attention.

I wouldn't even call this a blind side hit due to the location of the hit (the player is infront of burrows the entire time).

In fairness, the two hits are more similar than I think you're prepared to admit, RyZ. The league obviously felt that Edler's hit was more of a glancing blow caused by taking a poor angle to the player. Neiderreiter's hit was square on. It can be a fine line, however.
