I kinda feel bad about making it a joke about it in the title, but not enough to change it.

It looks like the shoulder hit his head first. You see his head immediately snap back (and in this case, not one of the famous snap-backs we all know and loathe from the Canucks). This will get looked at and will probably result in some disciplinary action - though if Burrows was indeed playing afterwards, and this being Nino's first incident (that I know of anyways), then it will probably not result in a suspension.

His arm is into his chest before any contact to the head happens. I think it gets a bit of his neck/chin, but principle? ... no.

You're both right. The neck and chest both were hit at the same time, so both the head and the chest were the principle point of contact. The question is, does that equal a head shot in today's game?

There is no way the head gets hit first. Shoulder to the chest, top of shoulder catches burrows neck possibly chin as his body absorbs the check and his head snaps back.

Seems like the arm and shoulder contact at the same time. But the main part of the hit is through the shoulder, the arm isn't really doing anything. The force of the blow is directed through the shoulder to Burrows' head. Niederreiter's shoulder explodes up into Burrows' head without leaving his feet. Be interesting to see if it does result in a suspension.

We've seen worse hits get ruled clean and lesser hits get ruled dirty so this could go either way I guess. I personally don't see anywhere where the head is the principle point of contact, but it's always interesting how different people see different things in stuff like this.

It looks to me like it hits his chest first and then rolls the body to the neck/chin. a shoulder directly to the head is pretty unmistakable.

As others have noted earlier, and other's noted on other sites, the elbow comes up in the followthrough, which gives an indication that a lot of the force is going through the arm as he follows through the hit. So with his upright body position, and the follow through that occurred, it could easily be concluded that the force of the hit was distributed through his entire arm, from his shoulder to his elbow.

Skates don't leave the ice. Certainly not an elbow. Not late.

Might be high, but it's tough to tell the intent. Looks like the head takes a lot of the impact though.

Did burrows return? Suspension if no, no suspension if yes.

Hope burrows is alright, db though he is.

No one should be celebrating this too much, connected with the chest and head, and seemed to follow through with the elbow, Burrows got up and walked into the dressing room, Wild got a penalty... Did Bitey return to the game? if so, no harm done.

Nino is actually attempting to play the puck and pulls up for the hit at the last second. No intention and not a head shot. I actually don't even see why he got a penalty.

My connection is terribly slow right now as I have a few other things running - that first gif was loading frame-by-frame. The first thing that moved on Burrows was the head snapping back. It may have hit the chest at the same time (especially from that angle, tough to say 100% and therefore I may indeed be wrong) but the hit at the very least made contact with the head at the same time.

If it was the chest first, you would see Burrow's head snap a bit forward first. It looked like it snapped back immediately with the hit, which leads me to believe that it was indeed the head that got hit first (or at least, at the same time).

Even if it was a head hit (highly doubtful), it would have knocked Burrows' teeth loose, thus making the game safer for everybody in the league.

Got a chuckle from Kassian and Bieksa both acting like tuff guys with Danny Heatley of all people.
