Default Free to Play - Dota 2 Documentary by Valve

Just watched this the other day, pretty interesting documentary that follows a few of the world's top Dota 2 players. I don't play Dota myself, but was still a really interesting look at these players lives and commitment to game. From the video description:

Quote:
FREE TO PLAY is a feature-length documentary that follows three professional gamers from around the world as they compete for a million dollar prize in the first Dota 2 International Tournament. In recent years, E Sports has surged in popularity to become one of the most widely-practiced forms of competitive sport today. A million dollar tournament changed the landscape of the gaming world and for those elite players at the top of their craft, nothing would ever be the same again. Produced by Valve, the film documents the challenges and sacrifices required of players to compete at the highest level.
You can download the movie for free through Steam (about 5gb) or watch it on Youtube:

Are they counting players like me that just play for fun but aren't actually ever trying to win money? Cause if so then ya I can see it.. otherwise I dunno about that. maybe we should be counting all the kids playing shinny at the community rink as competing for pro hockey spots too.

I also find it a bit hard to believe, but eSports (I really hate that term, incidentally) are becoming hugely popular. The League of Legends championship last year sold out LA's Staples Center and was also watched by over 32 million people online.

That was a great video just watched the whole thing, I guess I am out of my gaming prime now at 30 :P Fair enough, play time started to be a factor long before age though.

I've always enjoyed playing against other players online, I had very few friends that found it as fun as me though. Even though they really enjoyed video games they didn't like it being ultra competitive. I would always say, anyone can beat AI, now play against another person. Glad to see that this form of gaming is getting more attention in North America.
