Ehlers is listed 6' on some sites. He is not a small player but extremely skilled. Questions being asked about him are the same question that were asked about Drouin playing along Mackinnon last year.
I'd rather have a bit undersizes skilled fast player then take a flyer on a bigger player with much less skill. It's become a bit more skilled game in recent years.
Like I proposed earlier, line of of Ehlers-Monahan-Poirier would cause some serious issue for the opposition. Try to contain the wingers on that line and have the deceptive Monahan beat you.
Once again. EHLERS Bandwagon, here we go.

I think Dal Colle screams Calgary Flames. He's exactly the type of player who fits the team's identity. He won't be flashy but he will find a way to put the puck in the net. It follows the trend of Iginla and Monahan.
He's my fourth choice behind Ekblad, Reinhart, and Bennett.

I don't see how you can take Dal Colle over Draisaitl, who after Reinhart, is the most natural centre in the draft.
Corey Pronman has also been saying that Draisaitl is a better prospect now than Monahan was at the same age.

I've heard Dal Colle has a bit of the floatitis. Which wouldn't fit in with the Flames current identity. Is this incorrect?

Yes, some scouts say he needs to work on his play without the puck.
Brock Ottens summary on him a few pages back:
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showpos...postcount=2049
Quote:
Dal Colle- would NOT consider him a classic power forward like Shanahan or Lucic
- will drive to the net and he will use his size offensively, but he doesn't throw his weight around
- more of an offensive guy who just happens to be a bigger kid
- needs to make improvements on the defensive end
- needs to work on the consistency of the back check
- some issues with his intensity level this year especially without the puck
- his bread and butter is his shot, great release
- projects to be a 30-40 goal scorer at NHL level

It is true and he doesn't use his size ala Joe Colborne.

To be fair all these guys have some warts that make them less attractive to the Flames
Dal Colle - doesn't use his size well and isn't great without the puck
Ritchie - conditioning looks to be an issue and is inconsistent
Perlini - doesn't use his size well and has a risk of this season being an aberration
Virtanen - inconsistent
It's up to the scouts to figure out if the players can overcome these deficiencies

Virtanen has a really good skill set and very good size. His vision and hockey sense will push him back...IMO.

I'm not rooting for losses. But I would like
Buffalo to take Ekblad
Oilers feel pressure and draft for size (Bennett)
and hopefully Calgary, ends up getting Reinhart.
Tough schedule down the stretch, could happen. If not, I hope the Flames trade up. Outside of the top 3 I really am not fond of anyone.

I have a hunch that Florida's going to win the lottery. And their fans are very high on Ekblad.
Florida - Ekblad
Buffalo - Reinhart/Bennett
Edmonton - Draisaitl
Islanders - Dal Colle
Which would leave Reinhart or Bennett for us. I think this is a very possible scenario.

I'm pretty sure Reinhart is a bit taller than Bennett, and they both weigh the same.

I'd be extremely happy if Ekblad ended out of Oilers hands.

I think Ekblad is going #1 no matter what, Buffalo fans are saying that management want to build from the blueline out.

Yeah, draft Ekblad, trade one of Zadarov/Myers/Pysyk for a forward. Draft a high end forward next year.

If Buffalo wins the lottery, I can see Edmonton making a deal with Buffalo for Ekblad. Buffalo goes on and picks Reinhart & Bennett.

Some of the rumors were that the Oilers were higher on Draisaitl then they were on Ekblad.
I would be happy if they took him over one of Reinhart, Bennett, or Ekblad.

I could see the Islanders drafting a winger. They have Hamonic, de Haan, Donovan and Hickey in the line up right now as young D, with Reinhart, Pulock, Polkka, and Pelech in the system.
They have some young talent in the NHL at center as well with Tavares, Strome, and Brock Nelson are 23 and younger while Nielsen is only 29.
