I have been playing for about a year and a half and I have spent $0. You get 3 donuts every level and then you can get more from other places as well so I never spent any money at all.

I alternate on donuts. It goes 1 donut in a level up, then 2, then 1, then 2, and so on.
On my weekly mystery box this week I got a box of 10 donuts. Pretty sweet.

Don't you get a scratch card type thing where you can choose a box and if it does not contain 3 you can pay 50,000 to try again?

That only happens when you hit max level. I think he was referring to the basic leveling from 1 to max. Then after that it's the scratch card

So after hearing a couple horror stories about people losing their donuts with the recent updates I've decided to spend some of mine to mitigate the sting should it happen to me.
So just a question for the community: What are the best premium items to purchase? I have 403 donuts, and I refuse to spend them on anything that doesn't get me a money making property and a character.
I've heard that Luann and the cracker factory is a good one as it unlocks some quests and the food trucks. What about Fring and his lab? Otto and the bus? etc.
Thanks in advance.

Went with Luann. Good deal as it unlocked a quest, a character, building, and food trucks that increase commercialism rating. Also, the building lets Kirk have a bonus 8 hour job

Out now. Seems okay.
I am not sure how the friends stuff works but it wants me to sign into facebook. I hope that doesn't mean you can only add people you know from Facebook...
Edit: I guess a new thread is in order?

Easter update is here. The instructions for it all is a little confusing. I have no idea what the hell they are talking about when they say drag your finger across the screen to zap rabbits. All that does is move me around my town like it always has. Wouldn't it have been clearer to just say "tap" the rabbits?
Also, I see that in order to get eggs from your friends you have to spend donuts to place a basket for each colored egg set in your town. Lame. Guess all I'll be getting is what I pick up from the rabbits.

Yeah, I saw one in my inventory and placed it. However, once a friend uses it, it is consumed and gone.
Not a biggie. I found they are only for trading eggs from one color into another. Didn't realize I could pick eggs up from visiting neighbors (in addition to accumulating friend points).
Have to say, the spring environment in Springfield is perking me up a bit.

I'm assuming you figured this out. But for anyone else, just hold your finger on the screen until the electricity starts, then you can move around town. Just keep your finger on the screen.

I did not know that. Thanks. Makes finding the little buggers a lot easier.
