Seems high to me. If we are ever owing TJ Brodie $6M in a season somebody should be fired.

You think TJ Brodie is a $5M a year cap hit D man? $4M per year sounds more reasonable. I don't think Brodie will get any better than he is.

Word. 23-year-old d-men have no room for improvement.
By the by, Brodie is putting up very comparable numbers to those of another fleet-footed defencemen at 23, that being Duncan Keith.

How does Rutherford keep his job? Since winning the cup that team has done nothing but tread water. They are wasting away the Staal brothers prime years.

You think this is a bad deal? Faulk is a really good young dman - not a guy that gets a lot of pub but a huge part of their future.

Some people are seriously underrating Faulk. He is a great young d-man and made the USA Olympic team for a reason.

This should be a law of hockey talk on the internet.
Whenever a player who isn't a consensus top 3 player at their position signs a contract it shall be met with the feeling that the contract is too expensive.

It's quite odd and I can't quite put my finger on it.
But my general perception of talk on this board is that we're very quick and willing to "overrate" flames yet the one player who's basically the most deserving of being overrated is the one who's mostly, by my view, underrated by fans. And that's TJ Brodie.
He's a already a top 2 defenceman (on a bad team mind you) at 23 years old. He's projecting to potentially be a number 1 defenceman and a good one at that. Yet people generally are pretty mum on his potential and his value to the team.

Not sure if serious....He is already a top pairing d-man for the Hurricanes, averaging over 23 minutes of ice time, he just turned 22 and has already played for the USA at the Olympics.

Im not a big fan on Faulk. Every time I watch him I wonder why he is so highly regarded by some. He seems to be a guy that is givin a lot of opportunity as a young player and he plays well enough to not look like he is in over his head, but certainly doesnt excel either.
I would think that on most non-garbage teams, he would not be used as a top 4 dman right now.

He hasn't looked good whenever I have seen him but that hasn't been much.
Sure he made the US defense but that was a very weak group and he did not look good at the Olympics.
Haven't seen enough of him to make a strong opinion on him but from what I have seen I would say good thing it isn't the Flames paying him this money.

Good signing, if they waited longer he would have seriously Faulked them over and got more money.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad deal as my comments were more directed at the current state of the team. The just don't seem to have any general direction. Reuniting the Staal brothers has been a major failure so far.
