Not really metal I know but some may listen to them...King's X bassist and front man dUg Pinnick was rushed to hospital after a show this weekend. He recently had hernia surgery and this may be related to that. He was apparently in obvious pain throughout the show but completed the set and even tried to stay for the meet and greet.
update from dUg:
"Last night in Charlotte something happened relating to my recent operation. The pain was so bad I went into shock so they rushed me to the ER. We barely finished the show but it was an awesome crowd and we had fun. I was disappointed that I had to leave the meet n greet, it's one of my fav things at a kx show, meeting all the people. I'm better today but have to get another operation to fix the problem, Doc. said it could be life threatening if I don get this taken care of. so i have to get another operation. Im so sorry we had to cancell DC! But we will be back. thank you all for being a part of my life. May the groove be with you!"
Drummer Jerry gaskill had a heart attack last year, then lost everything in Hurricane Sandy. Tough times for the band but they are getting up there in age (dUg turned 63 or something this year I believe...abs of a teenager though which is annoying to my fat self).

Really love this live stuff with Floor, she is great.
A buddy and I drove down to see them in Seattle last year, and right before the show he checks the Nightwish page to see that Annette is gone and Floor Jansen from After Forever will be singing. Now while I really liked the newer stuff with Annette, she just could never do the old stuff properly. Seeing Nightwish live with Floor for the first time and hearing her belt out the classics just as good as Tarja ever did was amazing. Plus she's got the versatility and range to do the newer Annette songs just as well, and being more metal than either of them doesn't hurt.
I can't wait till they do a full album with Floor on vocals
Long shot - are there any goregrind/grindcore fans on this forum? It's a pretty much nonexistent scene here in Calgary, but hey, there must be someone else out there that's into it.

I love all metal. My favourite grind bands are Pig Destroyer, Rotten Sound, Trap Them, Nails, and All Pigs Must Die.
Oh Rotten Sound. I've tried to like them, I really have. Just can't get into them. In fact, when I was at MDF many years back I used their set to get lunch. No regrets, haha.
I'm much more into the gore side of grind. Last Days of Humanity, Tumour, Embryonic Cryptopathia, Cliteater etc.
I'll have to check out the re-record. I love that album. They were still super aggressive back then. As years went on the seemed to lose some of that edge.
Tumour is Rogier from LDOH, it's one of his many side projects. I think he did Carnival of Carnage as well?
When it comes right down to it the Europeans, and to a certain extent the South Americans, have the gore side down more than North America. Obviously not absolute, but I find myself listening to Euro bands more than any other. Thinking about it, the Aussies have some pretty sick bands too.
I actually talked with Joost a bunch at MDF about both Cliteater and Inhume. His English was spot on so he was a pretty chill guy to chat with. His vocal range is just incredible. He pulled off the super fast high to low vocal transitions off almost perfect live. Man, so many good memories of Maryland. The second year I went down both CBT and Regurgitate played which was total bucket list caliber. Gut played too, but their best days are long past. The gigolo ####, while somewhat entertaining, is way too much.
This thread has been dead for a while.
The new album from intervals is released today. This cd is absolutely amazing well worth a listen and a purchase.
Any fans of Nile? This is the side project of Dallas Toler Wade. Another great album.

There is a new Insomnium album being released soon! /drool.
Here is their EP they just released not too mong ago. Really great band that I've been a growing fan of for a few years now. One of the few bands I actually get pumped about when a release is upcoming.
