Please tell me there is no one on CP that has a "Chive on" decal on their vehicle?
I've seen a few of them around Calgary lately, usually with guys in their 30's driving. If you're one of them, please explain why you have a decal of a website that shows funny pictures on your vehicle.
I mean, I'm not a huge fan of decals on vehicles to begin with, but at least sports teams, bands etc, make sense. But a website that you visit to kill time? C'mon.
Am I missing something? I've been to that site and as far as I can tell it's just your typical funny pictures/videos website. Have they really done that good of a job with their brand that dudes will actually order their car decals and put them on willingly, or is there more to that site?

Yeah, after going to it just now, one of the top new pic catagories is "Bad girls bend and snap, 51 photos", and some of them gave references to the site in their pics.
So is it basically a creeper site for guys to look at young girls who feel comfortable posting pics of themselves because of a fake sense of it being this really popular cool "community"?

I think putting a KCCO decal on anything makes you an automatic ######bag. And I enjoy browsing that website/app.

Those with KCCO on their cars probably wear Affliction or Ed Hardy as well

Whenever I see them they seem to be more like mid-30's IT guys.

I mostly see them on trucks, but one of the few cars with one was a guy who kept parking in our visitors spots, even though he was told repeatedly not to. I was so glad when he got towed.

Speaking of decals, how about those annoying family decals that people put on their vehicles?
They look stupid. Stupid stupid stupid.

wrgmg.... i try to get together with 'the boys' for flames games. i have a bunch of buddies from hockey that are oilers fans and i was really looking forward to having a flames vs oilers night tonight, but my band got a last minute gig so i couldn't do it... of all nights, tonight would have been oh so sweet.

I wonder if in part the pie got smaller to draw new talent from. How many of those 90s style bands still exist and pump out music?
I mean I loved the fact that 92.9 would play things like Rise Against, Alexisonfire, Pennywise, Queens of the Stone Age (their new song kinda sucks btw) and mix in some in some of the good 90s stuff like Moist, Rage against the Machine and others. The lightest stuff they would play would be the occasional city in colour song.
Most of those guys have slowed down their music production or even disbanded. Are there enough new bands with those alternative styles to keep a station like that going?
I don't know. Maybe it is age, but I find it hard to get into a lot of new stuff, I'd hope that the middle ground that X92.9 was founded on still exists, but I don't know.

Yeah I do think that's a big part of it too, just not as many new acts breaking into the market.
But having said that, Sled Island continues to do well without resorting to top 40 "Hey!" folk rock. So it's not like there isn't viable alternative music out there, but it may not be enough to support the economic model of a commercial radio station anymore. A 4-5 day festival is a much different beast than a 24/hour, 365 radio station.

My girlfriend hates those too so I got her this.
Also, what is GMG right now is the person in my office who has their phone's ringtone (like, office phone not cell phone) set to a woman's voice repeatedly saying "ARE YOU THERE? ARE YOU THERE?" Why not just have a normal ring tone?

Satellite stations aren't better, per say, just a larger selection of them.
|
Of course all stations are going to be repetitive. Especially a station on satellite that is in a specific genre only. But if you take out all the talk and commercials and the choice to go from Alt rock to classic rock to country to jazz, why the hell would anyone listen to regular radio? Sorry, I just don't get it. Remove the commercials and the talk alone and I'm much happier. Just give me the music. The very definition of better is the fact you don't have to listen to talk and commercials constantly between songs. Or 30% mandated cancon.

Haven't touched the regular or sat radio buttons in my car since I got Pandora working this week - optimistic that said music sources have been permanently replaced. Though in terms of repetitiveness it seems to select the same 10-15 artists. Maybe it gets more diverse as you thumbs up / down certain things? Will continue to investigate.

Just as annoying as family stickers. About as bad as "my lacrosse mom is better than your soccer mom" or whatever. Childish either way.

I never said it was better.
I said satellite wasn't better. Same crap, different pile.
You questioned why anyone would listen to AM or FM radio, and the answer was blatantly obvious. Not everyone wants to spend a monthly fee to listen to the same crap with fewer commercials.
