Default Jets renewal rate 96%

After reading all negativity from the jets thread that started around 4 years ago thought I'd share a nice news email sent to Jets season ticket holders

Quote:
Dear [Name],

On behalf of the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for renewing your Winnipeg Jets Ticket Purchase Agreement and showing your commitment by not only renewing your seats, but extending your term. We are extremely humbled by your overwhelming response.
We are pleased to confirm that over 96% of our seat holders renewed their Ticket Purchase Agreement. Additionally, 50% of seat holders chose to extend the term of their agreement for greater than three years.
By renewing your Ticket Purchase Agreement, we have rewarded you with Bonus Jets Points that have been added to your Jets Rewards account balance. We encourage you to log-in to Jets Rewards via Jets Pass HQ to browse the catalogue of Jets Reward options available to you.
Please watch for the exciting 300 level concourse building improvements which will commence this summer; including washroom expansion, new and improved food and beverage offerings and points of sale, increased washroom capacity, expanded concourse balconies in the SE and SW quadrants of the concourse and an expanded balcony overlooking the Portage Avenue Atrium.
We are committed to continuing to improve your fan experience for many years to come. Thank you for your continued support of your Winnipeg Jets.
Yours truly,

James C. R. Ludlow

President & CEO

Norva Riddell

Senior Vice President,
Business Partnerships & Account Services
After reading all the bravado and certainty about how this would never happen this is great news and should finally silence some of the criticism and naysayers.

A Jets sellout will still always be lower than the Flames lowest average attendance since 1983.

Do Jets fans really think posting letters to season ticket holders will "silence" anyone?

There was no doubt that they would have great renewal rates for the first few years. The question is will the fans still show up if they have crappy teams for 5 years straight.

There isn't a fan base out there that needs more validation from other fans then Jets fans.

Maybe because they are so insecure about losing their team before or how crappy the city is but the constant "love us, love us" from them is pretty pathetic.

I am happy as it is good news that NHL teams are successful attendance wise.

I feel that certain posters hope that the jets fail. Why would anyone want that ?

While we're at it, let's ban everyone who is not a Flames fan!!!
God forbid we have any varying points of view.

I'm happy for Winnipeg and their fans.

We'll see how those renewals are when the talent starts bailing on Winnipeg in the next couple of years. Things are great in the honeymoon phase, but we'll see how things are when the first star leaves town because, well, it's Winnipeg.

I more interested in how they'll manage five years from now. Until they get a new arena with more seats, being the lowest capacity in the city with the weakest corporate support is not sustainable once the honeymoon phase passes.

At the end of the day, you are still talking about Winnipeg. And after plugging that fact into my City analyzing machine, the analysis came back, that Winnipeg is not good.

It's not about banning other teams fans.... but info like this is pretty trivial to be discussing on a rival's board. We have some awesome Canucks and Oilers fans on this board, but I don't ever see them starting threads about Canucks renewal rates or Oilers attendance records... or when Sedin buys a new pony, etc.

While we're at it, let's have GDTs for Jets' games as well!!!

I wouldn't say I want them to fail, although with some of the Jets fans we have had I wouldn't be disappointed to see them gone, but with the tiny population base , small arena especially number if luxury boxes and limited corporate support unless Thompson is willing to lose money it seems doubtful that it is sustainable.

Good now in the honeymoon phase but better hope the garbage that is the on ice product gets better (not likely) and the Canadian dollar doesn't dip much more.

actually... it would be funny if we started some Jets anti-GDTs or something. Instead of praising the team, we can cheer for the other team and make fun of how crappy the Jets are. That would be a good way to get rid of the annoying posters on here.

Well these renewals are for 3, 4 and 5 years (similar set up to the original commitments) so they'll probably be doing okay. Not my favorite kind of setup but it seems to be working for them and the fans seem to be on board with it.

But this talk about new arenas really needs to stop, and it's been brought up here before and it always seems to enrage me.

You say they have the weakest corporate support, so building a new arena for more corporate boxes and club seats doesn't make much sense if they're already at a risk of it running thin. Their building is only 10 years old, so there would be no public money on the table seeing as how it's likely they're still financing the construction of MTS. So what you're saying is that a team that can keep demand high with fewer seats should build a new arena at a minimum cost of ~$300M for what? So you can spend all that money for 3,000 of the lowest priced seats in the house? Seems like an expensive project to take on for not much additional revenue.

Plus, the size of the MTS Centre has made it far more versatile as a non-hockey venue (it can act as a mid-size and large concert venue, something few arenas can adequately do), to the point where it has been #3 in non-sporting event attendance in the country (behind only the ACC and Bell Centre). The size of MTS is an advantage to TNSE, not a disadvantage.
