The most one goal games in the league, only a matter of time until the scales tip the other way.

Didn't expect such a wild game. Definitely a little different. Ortio did look shaky tonight, but that happens to the best of them.

Once again, the Flames battle until the very end. Entertaining game.

Darren Haynes ‏@DarrenHaynes_CP 1m Your NHL goal-scoring leaders for March is a three-way tie: Jarome Iginla, Jonathan Toews and Mike Cammalleri all have nine this month.

If only Byron could teach the veteran Glencross about giving a damn and playing with heart.

Darren Haynes ‏@DarrenHaynes_CP 1h With 2 assists tonight, Giordano has 13 pts in March (3 g,10 a). That's fourth in NHL behind: Seguin (6-9-15), Giroux (5-10-15), Duchene (3-11-14)

God it pains me to think what we would have got for Cammy if he'd been this hot two weeks BEFORE trade deadline

Since Cammy is a team player, he must think it's February.

Concussions, they'll do that sometimes.

Pretty sure Glencross is gone at next year's deadline, if not moved in the offseason. Just cost the team a win when they worked so hard for it. Should've been 5-4 Flames.

Not really, imo.

We're a bottom 5 team in terms of our roster. It's great that we can stay in games, but at the end of the day, the reason we're almost always on the losing side of one goal games isn't because of luck, and therefore the scale will tip the other way.

It's because we're legitimately a bottom five team, who works hard and can usually stay in games. Which isn't a slight to the players, this team works it's balls off every game, it's just the reality of our roster.

I'm very happy with the foundation for this rebuild, though. It's funny because I was even secretly wanting them to lose tonight because the Preds are so close to us, but by the end of the third this team had me cheering as hard as I did back in 2006.

We're doing this rebuild the right way.

Highlight of the night for me was watching Byron out muscle Weber at the end.

Hartley says in his post-game interview that Joni Ortio will be going back to Abbotsford.

Probably not a lot as it was a buyers market and not a sellers market.

Thoughts:

- Byron is feisty and I like it a lot. Hopefully he sticks with the team long-term.
- I thought Ortio did fine... The last goal was shaky though.
- Russell and Brodie are going to be great defensemen in the upcoming years, especially Brodie.
- Thought Agostino played well. He seems strong on the puck. Passing needs to be better, but I believe that is a transitioning thing.
- The boys played hard so I am happy.

That's the right move. He needs to work on a few things and the Heat need to get ready for a deep run into the playoffs.

MacDonald can back up Ramo for the time being.

Well good for Ortio coming in and going 4 - 4 (really 4 - 5, but owell) He's still so young, and has had an amazing season thus far!!

Lots of potential with this kid!

And Wotherspoon. Seriously great game tonight by him. Made more than a few really saavy defensive plays tonight that really hammered home what he can do. He's certainly a keeper in my books. Butler's replacement to more precise.

I said that intentionally to see if it would spark a comeback. It's like what Red John did in the Woman's gold medal thread.

If they are going to trade him then they better do it in the summer. Cashing in on deadline rentals seems like a thing of the past.

With his assist tonight, McGratton hits a career high at 6 points
