They also dropped the price by 30 pounds, and bundled in Titanfall. In the end that is a pretty big discount for a near launch system and the growth was on a small base to start.

It also brings the price of the XBox one to par with the PS4 in the UK when it comes to the bundles.

I was more referencing N.A where there is still a $100 gap (in the US at least) and stock appears to be readily available on shelves for the game and the bundles.

Finished MGS GZ last night, probably took me about 1-2 hours sneaking around trying to not get caught. 3 kills, 6 restarts, 0 alerts final grade of 'C' and according to the game I am 9% complete.

Looking forward to playing some of the other challanges on the map, as well as replaying the mission now that I know the layout of the map. I would say it was worth the $30 to me, and if you are a fan of the series I would think you would be ok with the value you get out of the game.

Infamous: Second Son reviews coming in today, sitting at 81 on Metacritic so far. Although the more main stream sites seem to be giving it better scores, with lots of 70s coming from lesser known sites.

Destructoid: 95
Joystiq: 90
EGM: 90
IGN: 87
Polygon: 85
Gamespot: 80

For the most part it sounds fun and rates as a very good super hero game, but maybe not a great open world game. It is getting docked due to being an open world game that doesn't give you as much to do as GTA V, and not many side missions outside of the main story (although there is a day one patch that adds 19 missions and 5 hours of Gameplay and it is unclear if all of the reviews were done with this patch downloaded).

Overall with Titanfall launching last week, and Infamous this week, the true start of Next Gen Console gaming is here.

Would also argue that, price aside, Metal Gear Solid GZ is a very next-gen experience. Great time to be a gamer.

Very excited for Infamous! From the sounds of it, if you're a fan of the series (which I am), its definitely a 9+.

Not sure what "in control means" though.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/xbox-...ontrol/0129972

The machine has benefited from a £30 price cut, while the launch of Titanfall last week caused a surge in console sales of 96 per cent.

But retailers have told MCV that PS4 remains in control, and that Xbox’s recent success has been aided by shortages of Sony’s console. In fact, a fresh supply of PS4s last weekend caused a 72 per cent rise in sales.

MCV understands that Sony is preparing to release extra stock into the trade for this Friday’s launch of Infamous: Second Son, which is PlayStation’s big hope for the quarter.

Sound like Sony is going to supply constrained well into the summer now:

http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/03/...to-the-summer/

We’re struggling to keep up with demand,” which has been highest in the U.S. and Europe, House said. “Conservatively, as we get into the early summer months, we’ll be closer to a full supply situation.”

Constrained supplies have led some retailers to trumpet when they are able to stock up. In January, GameStop issued a press release informing customers that it had received additional PS4 shipments. At the time, GameStop said it was selling the devices out as quickly as it could stock them.

Sony this month said it has sold more than six million PS4 units, well more than sales of the PlayStation 3 in the months after it launched. Industry watchers believe Sony has edged out MicrosoftMSFT 0.00%, which in January said it had sold more than three million of its new Xbox One consoles through the end of 2013.

Microsoft hasn’t updated its figures since. A spokesman said the company is planning on updating numbers in its quarterly reports. Sony also declined to offer new sales data.

Many are pointing to Sony’s successes, but you know what I think the real cause is? It’s because nobody wants to buy the first version console.

For Xbox and Xbox 360, how many versions did each one have to go through before they had a reliable console?

Hearing of all the horror stories of dealing with the “red ring of death” and having to get a new Xbox because the last one broke. It’s previous consoles where gamers have learned and are sitting back and saying “I’ll wait for the next version”. Why do you think 50 CPers have voted “waiting for more info”? I certainly don’t want to shell out $500 for something that’ll only last me 6-12 months
This is exactly my stance at the moment, I am waiting for M$ to fix some of the issues before i fork out for an XB1, mostly the fact i cannot stream video or anything from my PC to the XB1, which I can do on my XB360.

Even more US price drops, soon for Canada?

Walmart has the Xbone Titanfall bundle for $449 now (TigerDirect had the same discount recently as well).

If they keep dropping the price like this, they may not have to remove the Kinect at all. Just keep discounting it until sales pick up.

That's not entirely true. You CAN use the XB1 as a streaming device from your PC. What's missing, however, is an app to browse your video storage device from the XB1, which is what everyone wants. The actual streaming itself is quite limited as well as I found fast forwarding or rewinding causes the stream to fail.

This will be big because they now have a price advantage in Canada.

$450 for XBox One with a game, vs just $450 for the PS4 now.

Could be an equalizer for Microsoft in Canada at least, although it is likely a sign that they have not been moving the Titanfall bundles as quickly in N.A. as they had hoped.

The price drop is also live on Bestbuy.COM (not CA yet) when you put it into your cart.

Titanfall must not have pushed as many sales as they expected or wanted.

According to VGChartz for the first week of release in the US Titanfall sold 580,521 copies. VGChartz usually includes copies sold through hardware bundles but not copies bought digitally.

Also for that week XB1 vs PS4 sold 113,549 vs 50,705 in the NA and 30,245 vs 36,978 in Europe and 0 vs 29,734 in Japan .

So my guess is MS isn't bragging about sales because it's not earth shattering and it's most likely they haven't broken 1 million copies worldwide yet at least on the XB1.

Charts for this weeks sales as per lockouts post. Definitely it had a big effect on Xbox one hardware sales and MSFT managed to increase their sales week over week by almost double over the previous week. This was not the case in Europe where it seems the weekend numbers for Titanfall did not make any increase in Xbox one sales. This is in line with FPSes an how they appeal much more in North America than elsewhere. The release of the title did not manage to push Xbox one sales in the EU over PS4. Did this meet MSFT expectations? Hard to say, but if they were expecting Halo numbers I'd say it'd didn't. We'll see what the expectations were at EA's quarterly press release

It'll be interesting to see the PS4 numbers over the next couple of weeks with the launch of Infamous Second Son. It's the first truly next gen game IMO, the graphics are incredible

I can't see PS4 hardware sales changing much if at all seeing how they're supply constrained.

Kinda crazy how it'll take at least until the summer before that happens. I've got Infamous unopened along with Titanfall right now. Dumping hours into Final Fantasy X so far. And Luftrausers. I could also see Fez taking over before I get to those two.

Maybe I should crack open Infamous just to check it out based on Hemi's comment though. It is the weekend after all!
