She never did have much backing in the party. She got elected by people who liked that and thought they were voting for change. Then she screwed them by going back on her promises, maybe in an attempt to win over the party . In the end she ends up alone

With all the frantic WR bashing on here you would think an election was being held tomorrow and the PC's are 30 points down in the polls.
But then again, I must be mistaken. The Progressive Liberal Conservative supporters don't bash their opponents... only WR people do that.

Did she actually right one? Good luck on getting the $$$ from her now, if she hasn't.

Maybe it's time for Gary Mar to make his triumphant return from HK. Had Alison not bought the teachers' votes, he should have been the premier 2 years ago.

It'll be easy enough for WR to find out if she indeed wrote the $45K cheque. And if she hadn't she'll have to answer for it for she's still an MLA.

Social regressive policies aside, I could probably hold my nose and vote WRP if I think their fiscal policies were sound, but their policy is basically "spend less" which is nice to say, but much harder to do...their plans like "cut waste", "reduce entitlements" eliminate corporate subsidies, those aren't ideas. Please tell me, how do you "cut government bureaucracy " what does that even mean?

She might still be a MLA but I doubt we'll ever see her again in the legislature after this weekend.... at least thats the impression I got from her speech.

It means trim the fat, and roll back half a million in salary raises from 6 years ago.

I figure she'll ride out her term until the next election cycle. There's no point in having a by-election, the last thing the PCs want now is for any type of election where they have the potential to lose a seat or have actual voting results. Plus from what I've heard and gather she's actually well like within the riding of Elbow/Mount Royal.

I bet everyone would love it if Jim Dinning were premier. This gongshow started when Stelmach was elected.

Every staff member gets 15 paid sick days a year, plus 5 paid "family" days per year, plus 1 paid flex day per year, plus 1 paid "volunteer" day per year. And then of course there are the 15 paid vacation days per year that everyone starts out at and this increases to 20 days after 8 years.
Oh.. by the way, you can carry over your sick days from year to year if you don't use them.
Now I know this is an example of a federal employee, however I suspect there isn't much difference between her and a provincial employee.

Hate to say it, but that sounds like a great job.

Reminds me of this:
Jerry: So, we're going to make the post office pay for my new stereo, now?
Kramer: It's a write-off for them.
Jerry: How is it a write-off?
Kramer: They just write it off.
Jerry: Write it off what?
Kramer: Jerry all these big companies they write off everything.
Jerry: You don't even know what a write-off is.
Kramer: Do you?
Jerry: No, I don't.
Kramer: But they do - and they are the ones writing it off.

Over staffing is a problem, but I see no reason that employers can't be flexible with their schedule if an employee is productive.

She won the leadership race on the back of the teachers union. Then she turned her back on them miraculously. She was only an MLA since 2008 so needless to say she never had too many friends.
Once she won the 2012 election she thought she had it made without realizing the voters voted for the PC brand and not her. If she were the NDP leader she wouldn't have gotten half the votes Danielle Smith got.
After two years of my way or highway high handed approach the PC MLAs are ready to revoke the first chance they get. Unfortunately for her, she is simply too arrogant to know that.

This doesn't sound extravagant to me at all actually. I mean, sure if the "they have more staff than they need" part is accurate, then maybe that part, but everything else is somewhat standard. Lots of companies have at least 12 sick days a year, plus flex days, volunteer programs and 3 weeks holidays.
Frankly, if the government (federal or provincial) wants to compete for good employees here in Alberta they have to match what the corporations are giving.
If you do think that is ridiculous and should be stopped though, I trust you have written to your MP and mentioned the excess your wife has to confront every day? Surely the party in your signature would be happy to listen to a staunch supporter with a great idea!

Is your wife unionized? I know a few provincial employees and that sounds nothing like their work environment.
