This says to me many people in Alberta will go to great extremes to keep down the Wild Rosers.

Smith really laid into Redford in her presser. Good response, IMO.... but I haven't been following this terribly closely.

Just watched Redford's speech. For the first 5 minutes I thought she was accepting an Oscar.

I suspect your predisposition toward hating the Wildrose Party is impacting your view of their overall politics. (Likewise, my predisposition toward favouring them would have the opposite in the opposite fashion). The purpose of the opposition in practice is to point out the flaws in the government's actions. And all three opposition parties have hounded the government on the balanced budget lie, spending and other policy issues as well as Redford's misallocation of funds for personal use, etc.
But most importantly, most of the damage done to Redford was from friendly fire. The Tories disintegrated from within. Nobody should be surprised when Smith, Sherman and Mason all prominently argue that point.

Maybe I'm naive here, but the people of Alberta shouldn't have to "buy a membership" to have a say in the leadership of the province. It should be an elected position, but I realize it's not.
But this is my view, like I said, may be misguided.

Most of the time the election of a party leader is not for premier. Now in the ideal process they'd elect a leader and call an election right away, but politically speaking they'd probably lose so they'll do the wise thing politically and give themselves two years to right the ship (or let the Wildrose meltdown again).

Smith has been harping on the PC's about the disaster the DRP program has been for flood victims. Or the family care centres or the amount of money being spent on Capital projects. It wasn't always about Redford as you would like to believe.

I hope Fred Horne goes for it. I like what he did with AHS overbloated executive structure. That took some balls.

Perhaps the Liberals can get their crap together one of these years. I'd really prefer not to vote for either the PC's or WRP. If it came down to it though, I'd pretty much vote for anyone to keep the WRP out of power. A vote for them is a vote for First Lady's husband.

I've talked to him in person and he would be my choice also.

For the distant twitterdom this was not about Redford's Mandela funeral costs, it was about Redford's attitude about everything.

Such a sideshow, I hate that politics has been reduced to worrying about irrelevant nonsense. This entire trip expense scandal has had 100 times the coverage verses the budget and any issues that matter.

Didn't think the province could be in worse hands than that bumbling idiot Stelmach. Redford is a dolled-up thug. Alberta is in need of leadership that we haven't seen in a long time (Klein, despite his faults).

Voting in your 3rd choice for a leader doesn't help. PC's need to change the way they pick a leader.

You actually don't read the news or watch it do you, you just spout out whatever follows your viewpoint that echos in that brain of yours.
Yes Wildrose has hammered the PC party, but they have hammered the government in terms of the budget and health care policies and other policies.
They've talked lots of policies if you'd actually do some research.

The is what happens when you choose 3rd place to lead your party...again. Change the god damn electoral system already. Jim Dinning would still be the boss.
edit: They have since changed the system so it gets down to 2 and then there's a vote.
