The trick was to start drinking before the show at the Den! My buddy grabbed us a couple more drinks before it began and said the "line" was, and I quote, "like some crazy spiral pattern where the center is the end." Just a completely disorganized mess. I didn't find the acoustics to be bad, but I was right up at the front. However, he really deserved to be performing in the Jubilee.
Well, it woulda been his agent or whomever that planned that venue, and the reason they did was because they didn't think they would sell out the Jubilee. It's not like we didn't give it to him cause he wasn't a big enough name, it has nothing to do with 'deserving it'. The only thing that could have been a problem would have been the schedule, if someone else had it first. But I'm pretty sure it was on his end. Anyway, it's obvious no one expected the turn out, he ended up booking three shows in Calgary! So he'll probably have the bigger venue next time.
Pretty much my thoughts too. Wasn't expecting to have to add two more shows and extend the tour. Definitely knows for next time! Unless you animals at the second show scared him off
Oh I am fully aware that isn't on us. Hopefully the next time he comes, whoever plans his tours picks a better venue. And yes, thanks btimbit! If it wasn't for this thread I'd have never known he was coming to Calgary.
Dunno why you'd leave mid show to smoke. Think of it like a movie.
I guess it might get a little long if you're there 30 mins before for the line. Add the 30 mins between the door open and the show open. Still that's only one hour plus 90 mins or so for the show, so two and a half hours total.
They didn't give out wristbands or anything so I'm thinking re-entry would be tough.

I don't plan on ducking out during the show. I was thinking in between establishing our seats for the show and the opening comic.
30 mins before the doors open time, which would be an hour before the show start.
You'll probably be in better shape than us, as you have the last show and we had the first Calgary one. Might be able to push it around 15-20 before.
My girl and I got there around 6:35 and were able to snag two seats dead center row seven or so. I wanted to get there early as she's short and has bad eyes, a bad combination for general seating, haha.

So you think around 6:15 or so would be latest?
Edit: Doors open at 7pm, show at 7:30, so likely around 6:30ish?

Yeah, you'll probably be fine with 6:40 actually, but don't push it too much more than that just in case. Plus the sooner you get there the better the bar line will be once you grab your seats, as it grew quickly. As you've seen people mention, they were a little disappointed with that set up.
You don't want to be too close with a guy like Bill. You **** up at all and he's all over you for it.
Haha, I was saying the same thing to my girl as she's notoriously late in getting ready and I knew the early show would be a rush for her anyway as she had things to do in the afternoon. But if you get there for doors open, you'll be fine regardless of how long the line is.
