No Country for Old Men was infinitely better as a film than a book. That turned me off of Cormac McCarthy indefinitely.

Totally random, but how much better would this show have been over the past season and a half if Morgan was still in it. Guy was an unreal actor. Would be cool if he found his way to the terminus to save the group

Two more episodes in this season.

As for "The Stand", I thought the first three quarters of it were quite good. Then, it almost seemed like King looked at the page count and said "it's how long already... Jesus Christ on a bicycle I need to wrap this up". The ending was forced and very meh to me.

Yup. The book is amazing. The miniseries was awful IMO. I have literally read the book about 10 times over the years. It's my favourite book.

What is most annoying is the paperback copy of the book I have says right on the back - soon to be a major motion picture. It never made it until the miniseries, which as mentioned above, was crap.

Still think it would be a cool ending, but I like goofy endings like that. And not always just for comedies. The ending of The Mist (another Stephen King short story) was awesome and something you never would expect. I'm not sure how many people would expect Rick in a coma as the storyline.

Only if the story evolved around him entirely. All the episodes that center around other characters make no sense if it's a dream.

It will end with all the living people actually turning out to be the zombies, and the zombies were really people. We've been seeing the apocalpyse through the eyes of a walker all along!

Yes, but that ending (movie wise) wasn't hokey or overdone, in fact it was truly terrifying, something even King said after he saw it, praising it over his own ending.

In fact it was so raw and disturbing it put a lot of people off the movie. For me, it turned an average movie up till that point, to a fantastic one, and is one of the best five movie endings of all time IMO.

But don't you see how that's the exact opposite of the coma (really rehash of 'it's all just a dream') ending you suggest? In the coma ending, there is no real consequence, and everything goes back to the way it was. Even if the idea wasn't done to death, it's still anti-climactic and doesn't leave you with any purpose to the whole series other than it being fun to watch, which hopefully it was. It waters down any lessons or growth that the characters may have had, erases their trials and tribulations, and kinda makes a mockery of the whole thing.

In the theatrical ending of The Mist it took consequences and rammed it down your throat in the most uncomfortable way. It took what was a loving caring man, truly only trying to do the right thing, and left him tortured forever.

And as for people not expecting Rick to be in a coma, it would only because they wouldn't believe the writers would dare do that because it's such a cop out and has been done to death. Maybe you have been around as long as some, but trust me when I say it's an old idea and has been done many times, and people are sick of it. Purely idea wise it's horribly predictable, and as I said from a writing standpoint it's lazy, and really makes a mockery of the whole journey. Which again, has less importance in a comedy, but really kinda is a big middle finger in a drama.

It's the sort of thing you see all the time in kids cartoons and such. And that's where it should stay,

I think Rick will ultimately die but in doing so will also pass the torch on to Carl. Kind of like "The Road," for those that have seen that. Father preparing son to take on this strange, new world and sacrificing himself in the process is the vibe I've been getting for awhile anyways.

Have only read the comics up until they reach the prison as well.

I hope the final 30 minutes of the show are just a giant bloodbath, as both the supposed cure and their safe haven fail. Cause I'm really not sure this show was meant to have a happy conclusion. Too much dark and disturbing content already, to the point that you couldn't imagine these people having real, normal lives again post-cure.

So far this latest season hasn't been bad with the exception of the Rick/CAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLL stuff. LIked the Carol/Tyrese parts, Michonne origin story, Bob origin story. It's mostly the maggie/glenn rick/carl stuff that has brought things down. Darryl/Beth is obviously building to something interesting.

Rick will die I think we all know and Carl will take over, but no way does it happen soon. Rick is simply the face of The Walking Dead. No way he dies anytime soon.
