That was actually kind of hard to watch when he was breaking down during the ovation. So much emotion.

Good on the Sharks.

Yeah, I'm glad the ovation part of the video wan't longer - I may have had to close my office door for a few minutes.

I don't know... I guess I need to wait until they release the terms of the contract before I can give my reaction. I mean, sure the kid's great in the dressing room and he's obviously well on his way to becoming a fan favourite, but his skating needs a lot of work. Loved his Burrows impersonation at the end though.

Mind you, it's only a one-day contract, so it shouldn't be too hard to unload the cap-hit. If things don't work out, I'd suggest giving Sather a call and try to get the NYR 1st round pick back in exchange.

Oilers need more character guys. I can see them sending an offer sheet this kid's way.

Boy what a moment. The Sharks really are one of the best run teams in the NHL.

Very classy. I seem to remember I think it was the Lightning, who used their very last pick during one draft to draft a kid who had a physical disability and made his dream of being drafted by the Lightning come true. Love stories like this.

The Flames did that too a couple years ago, used it on a 1st rounder.

I also think a huge kudos needs to go out to the Sharks fans as well; for giving that guy the ovation.

Reminiscent of the "A decade ago" thread -- I love the power of sports to captivate and inspire people in so many ways. As much as people like to complain about pro athletes making millions of dollars, etc., you have a story like this and realize how much good can come from a "game". You can't fake that kind of joy and happiness. Simply awesome.

I don't know what it would be, but I somehow imagine the nucks doing the exact opposite of this. Maybe blaming a child fan for their crappy season or something.

Came into this thread expecting a reference to them losing to Luongo and the Panthers

Close. They like to reward children with tickets to an outdoor-indoor game, only to take them back.

We are all Canucks! Except for you.
