If Wild Rose 1) manages to get elected and 2) runs a surplus budget, I'll eat my hat.
Until then, I'm inclined to believe we have a revenue problem.

Honestly it was Danielle Smith being a climate denier that had as much or more of an adverse effect on the Wildrose than the other two clowns. They hurt no doubt, but taking an anti-science approach will get you annihilated in urban centers (and sure enough, the Wildrose won fewer seats in the cities than the NDP and Liberals).

I don't recall, did anyone ever ask Redford what her position on climate was? Admit it, in this province, it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't question.

On climate the most popular position in Canada to take is to declare that you believe in it and something should be done and then proceed to do nothing more than a token effort.
Do we have any politicians in the country who are actually doing anything about it?

Redford, and every other leader, roundly mocked Danielle at the time. And of course, Danielle and the Wildrose now believe in climate change. I could be cynical and believe the only reason they changed their mind is because it cost them the election...but that's obviously what happened so lets go with that.

Redford would love that. It gives her a supposedly face-saving way out, and she gets to blow a bunch of money and travel around in the process.

It would be a mistake to suggest that the WR Party members were also deniers of climate change. Smith made the comments, but it was not the position of the party members during the election.

Look at the numbers since the mid 2000s, they have decreased significantly, most notably in the non-renewables due to the decline in natural gas prices and the associated revenues. People still want more services and at a higher quality though, thus requiring different sources of revenue... Thus a revenue problem
|
Did you even look at the graph that you linked to? It shows increasing revenue. It is usually convention that when trying to prove your point, you don't link to data that directly contradicts what your trying to prove.
The chart shows a 40% increase in Revenue from 2000, and an average year over year increase in Revenue of 3%.

Wildrose would be more palatable if they dumped Smith for someone whose experience wasn't failure at the CBE and columnist for the Herald.

Mariam Ibrahim @mariamdenaAnd the Wildrose joined in on the standing ovation for Redford. #ableg #ejlive
I watched the live feed and Alison was giddying like a school girl during the clapping. I actually cannot tell if she was embarrased by it or enjoying it.

It would have been better if the Wildrose had done the sarcastic slow clap from the 80's movies.
Or burst out into Private eyes clap clap are watching you.

Shouldn't you be comparing year over year change in revenue too? Or show a graph of the population by year, instead of just the year of year change

I was open-minded in the last election regarding which candidate/party to vote on and ended up being unable to vote for the WR for a variety of factors. I was dumbfounded (and disappointed) by Smith's denial of climate change and the questionable comments by some of the candidates. Their platform also seemed quite vague to me at the time and there were a few places where I disagreed with the ideas they had included.
It would be really interesting if an election was called right now. For me, it seems like it would truly be a matter of pinching my nose and picking the 'least bad' candidate/party. Liberals/NDP are not going to form government, PCs are a mess, and I'm not sure about the Wildrose. Hopefully someone steps up and becomes a clear, positive choice.

When I look at those graphs, revenue has stagnated over the past 8 years. During this time there has been an increase in the population, which requires more capital projects to be created. How are people not seeing this as being a problem with the revenue stream going into the province's coffers? Because the amount is slightly higher than the previous year?
