Mass stabbing in China
From Reuters
"A group of knife-wielding men have attacked a train station in southwestern China, leaving at least 28 people dead and 130 injured, the official Xinhua news agency said, making it one of the deadliest attacks in China in recent years.
The incident which happened at around 9 pm local time (1:00pm GMT) at Kunming Railway Station in Yunnan province "was an organised, premeditated violent terrorist attack," Xinhua reported, citing authorities.
"A group of men carrying weapons burst into the train station plaza and the ticket hall, stabbing whoever they saw," it said.
Xinhua said the attack was carried out by separatists from China's far western region of Xinjiang.
"Evidence at the crime scene showed that the Kunming railway station terrorist attack was carried out by Xinjiang separatist forces," Xinhua said, citing the government of Kunming city where the attack happened.
The attackers were dressed in similar black clothing, the official China News Service said, citing eyewitnesses."

Fricking hell. Why is so much crap happening this year.
Usually terrorists theses days like working at a distance now. It takes a different level of psychotic terrorist to stab that many people. There are no demands either. Just random stab everyone they could.

Well technically speaking the people are just as dead as if they had used a bomb. And if there's a visually apparent ethnic division going on, theoretically they could have picked their targets.
As to the demands, as the Al Jazeera story says, the Chinese government is restricting reporting on the topic. Could be that the demands (or what ever) were just not released.
Which to be fair I'm not against. Randomly killing civilians should not be used to "get your message out".

I agree the end result of being dead is the same with a bullet, bomb, knife etc, but the psychology does feel different. If there you are strapped to a bomb you just have to press a button once. Here if there were five attackers and 150 stabbed. You have to hack one person to death or near it, then move on and hack another person to an average 30 different people. It is hard to imagine being able to do that. Perhaps of the 130 injured some are the result of the panic and trampling, but there are roughly 30 dead. I'm aghast.

Really what motivates these psychopaths to start stabbing people left and right. If they were really concerned about sending a message and causing damage, imagine how many people they could have hurt by suicide bombing. Certainly their message by the kill count would have been much higher. Instead they chose to get up and stab people close and personal.

I think that, sadly, suicide bombings have almost become too commonplace in today's society. Maybe not in China, but it the world as a whole. And that if they were going for shock factor, they actually succeeded with the mass stabbings.

If they are separatists I believe suicide bombing in China would not only be counter-productive but, pardon the pun, suicidal. This is not against a democratic government, and I believe that the communists have no qualms about ruthlessly stamping out resistance at any cost to the enemy. You suicide bomb train station, the communists wipe out a couple "ethnic terrorist" towns.

28 people???? Good fricken Lord! First the incident in Edmonton and now this? Why are people getting stabby all the sudden?
That truly is an unreal number of people to take down with a knife.

Agreed, but if you were going to take the time to make a post requesting a link, why not take the time to Google it yourself?

for one, it's a five character post. it took me less than 3 seconds to post "link?"
two, it's about message board etiquette. if you're going to post some reference to some news, have the decency to post a link to the news
three, other people may want to see the same update too, so why couldn't he have shared the news, make it easier on everyone else and posted that link?

Did you ever stop to think that it could have been reported on the news as breaking news and there was no link yet? When he said "just now" that is what I assumed.
Stop whining.
