Corban Knight assigned to Abbotsford
according to the AHL transactions page. Making room for Stajan, I suppose.

He did well, but finishing the year in Abby is best for him - and for Abby.

Yup looks like Staj is coming back.
Liked what I saw from Knight. Not quite ready for NHL full time but I can see it happening in a year or 2

Makes sense, especially with Stajan back. He was the only one that looked out of place for the most part, but good to see him notch his first and that shootout winner. Like that despite hype from the trade the Flames are taking it slow with him. No need to rush any of these kids.

Honeslty can't remeber so I'll ask, did we trade for Knight or was he a FA signing / college hold out type thing?

Traded a 4th rounder to Florida for his rights. Rumours at the time said he wasn't going to sign with the Panthers and plenty of teams were after him for what was thought to be a higher price then what the Flames paid.

Can his nickname be multipass?
(Yes I know it's a different spelling, I just can't help but think multipass whenever I hear his name)

All in all, I think the Knight call up went perfectly. He got his feet wet in the NHL and by the time it ended he had proven to the coaching staff, management, fans, and hopefully himself that he can play in the NHL.
Now he can go back down and focus on trying to win a championship with the Heat and go into the off-season with a realistic goal of winning a bottom six spot on the Flames next season in training camp. Now he knows exactly what he is in for and can adjust his training accordingly.
Who does he usually play with on the Heat?
Just as an aside: I'm fairly certain that scoring the goal and the shootout winner will make a big difference going forward. I watched the Flames practice the day before the Anaheim game and Knight looked very nervous out there. He seemed tense and was constantly looking around to see what other players were doing, never smiling or joking around with the guys. I heard somewhere that Hartley spoke to him and Hanowski and told them they were playing like they were expecting to be sent down at any time and I think that was probably around the time of this practice. He really won me over after looking shaky the first couple of games, so here's hoping that has a new sense of confidence.

As much as I'm hoping Knight will be one part of a future core, it is probably good for him to finish the season in Abby. Liked what I saw from him though.
People here talk a lot about finding our new #25 but finding another Yelle and Otto is perhaps equally important for the long-term success, and Corban Knight has IMHO all the tools to be a successful bottom 6 center.

Knight played well for a call-up, but he doesn't belong in the NHL - not yet. I think we're hoping best case scenario he develops into a solid bottom-6 guy. I like what we've seen.

He needs to be traded to the Stars first in order to have that nickname.

glad he got he call-up, it gets the first time jitters out of the way, shows him where his game needs to be in order to get a permanent spot, increases his confidence, and shows him that the team knows he's there.
Hopefully this elevates his game in Abby

I'm really glad Corban got the call-up. It was worth it to see the look on his face when he scored against Anaheim & then the shoot-out winner the other night. Great big smile... Hopefully we'll see him again next season.

Happy he got a shot, I like that a lot of guys keep getting to come up for a bit, especially just to see what it's like. I have a lot of faith in the approach being taken by the Flames that the prospect actually work their way up on a clear path and if they keep doing the things asked of them by management, they will get a shot.
Will be happy to see the Heat start picking up a few more wins soon.
