I don't suppose there's any room here to suggest Community Natural Foods? Eh eh?
Personally, I'm not concerned about prices TOO much, but despite their reputation they're actually cheaper than any of the above if you're looking for proper organic stuff or anything to cater to select diets (gluten free, vegan, etc.)

I think there is a certain point where you give up a bit of price for convenience.
I usually do a once every 3 weeks Costco run to stock up. Then make multiple small trips a week to the closest grocery store.
Working a few days in Strathmore affords me the ability to get everything I need at the COOP here and be in an out in 10 minutes. Which is worth it for sure.

I hate the superstore. It is always so busy, food is never faced up,out of product, no organization, no customer service. I would rather pay more at other stores. For some reason my parents absolutely love that store though

So glad my wife does the shopping, while I'm out golfing and drinking beer.

I do the grocery shopping because it takes me 10 minutes to do something it would take her 2 hours, and result in $200 of stuff we do not need.
My wife has to walk up and down every aisle... while i know the layout and can be strategic about it. Saves money and is efficient.

My wife hates shopping with me. Men are like commandos when we grocery shop. We've got our objectives, know where they are and we go after them. No idle chit chat, no window shopping.

I still have to try the Okotoks Costco for my bulk buying needs. If it's half the commerce oasis that people say it is, it will be well worth the drive. Every time I have to go to the NE Costco by work my mind goes to a really dark place.

My wife and I are the opposite -- she follows the list and is in and out quick, I love browsing and spending too much money on things we don't need.

That's what I do too. Costco runs once or twice a month, swing by Safeway a few times for smaller things I need.
Avoid superstore like the plague. Bad service, never organized, almost always dirty, parking lot feels like you're in the middle of a demolition derby, even a lot of the customers seem rude. I'll gladly pay a bit more at Safeway for the better environment (and airmiles)

I've driven out to the Okotoks Costco a few times now and not only is it less busy, but the time I spent wandering the parking lot for a spot and fighting for a shopping cart on the weekend at Deerfoot Meadows Costco can be spent on Highway 2 instead. It almost equals out in terms of time in the vehicle with a lot less stress.
Wal Mart produce surprised my wife and I with the quality compared to Superstore or Sobeys, so we go there more often now.

Superstore produce is the worst. I believe, but can't confirm, the distribution rights in Calgary from produce distributors go 1) Co-Op, 2) Safeway 3) Wal-Mart / SuperStore. Not sure where Sobeys / Save-On-Foods sit, but the point is that Co-Op has first selection rights.

Costco has very good produce, although the selection is not great.
Not sure what has being going on at SS.. Their produce quality has gone way down. Rotten vegetables and fruit. It's gross cutting into the cucumber thats flesh has turned to mush.

Costco has good produce, but I don't find it any kind of deal at all to buy from there. A lot of it is fresh, but the selection is limited and the prices aren't enticing like they're supposed to be for a place like Costco.
Superstore's produce is disgusting for the most part. I'll go out of my way to get Co-Op's produce, even if I have to pay slightly more. However, you can still find good deals at Co-Op if you know when to look and what for.

based on my experience Sobeys may very well choose their produce after rats and birds get their pick.

Minor gear grinder.
Ordering something for local delivery only to find out there's a delivery charge of $25 on all orders after the fact. It's not that the charge the delivery fee that bugs me, or even the cost, we do live in a large city after all. But the fact that it's not listed anywhere on their website where I placed the order.
It's absolutely fine to charge such a fee, but be up front about it so I know about it before I place the order.

Add me to the "avoid superstore" crowd. If there is a hell then superstore is where you would shop.

Someone on facebook complaining about how long the estimated hold time was when applying for EI. "Apparently people applying for EI have nothing better to do than wait on hold"
Easily the most self entitled thing I've ever seen on my facebook.
