I'll gladly be "people like you" to keep a rural regressive party from power. I'd rather not reinforce our redneck stereotype. If they put in a good leader, I'll vote for them, if not, I'll vote for someone else ... just not Wildrednecks.

She's giving up a ton off money and perks to do this, that's a huge move.
This could start the dominos tumbling

Here's the irony: Any growth for the Wildrose at this point is coming from the centre/moderate position. You can't win an election by occupying an extreme, which the NDP's history in Alberta shows. Simply by growing, Wildrose is being pulled into a position where the Tories used to occupy.

I don't think that's ironic at all, that's what always happens when parties get more popular.

Instead, now the PC party is worse off now than it ever has been, and the problems may be longer lasting. The one "gong show" likely would have been more constructive than the one we have now.

I would argue that ALL party leaders, with the exception of Redford, would be better leaders for this province. You don't have an excuse. That sentiment may have done greater harm to this province in the long run by potentially dismantling the PC party, than 4 years of any other party running the show has. Are you pleased with this outcome?

Unless the Liberals or NDP (or other party) steps up and fills in the centre left void effectively, the PCs are far from dead. This does make Alberta politics interesting though.

Crucial time for the WR. New center-right members need to speak up, and loudly, that they do not want the extremist social elements in the party.

Right now Sherman looks like a pretty incapable leader.
He took a incredibly hot topic like wait times and PC corruption at the time and turned it into the thundering momentum of a dying seal.
We know that the Liberal's are a toxic brand in this province, but the old key phrase here is "Jesus man at least do something"
Even Brian Mason is doing a better job of capitalizing on this

This really has been a case of a death by 1000 cuts, none of what Redford has done has really been a major breach, but the continual optics of her actions are quite poor. Frankly I don't understand why people are so up in arms about the really quite small things like plane trips to similar destinations, these are things that one would hope that the Premier of the province would be unaware of ever occurring. To start putting to boots to someone based upon things like that is downright embarrassing. Then there is the stuff about how she is a bully, I know politicians, they are almost always bullies, at least the successful ones are. Look at Harper, he is a bully, but you never hear him getting called one, he is rather considered a strong willed-leader... Women on the other hand get called bitches and bullies.
She is viewed as being too liberal by the more right wing factions of the populace and too conservative by the left wing factions of the province. Really right now there isn't a huge population that the PCs are really attractive towards.
Right now Alberta has a revenue problem and any party that doesn't acknowledge that is going to be one that will find themselves in a deficit situation for a long period of time.

Yeah, I hear him being called a bully all the time. Are you not listening to that?

again, you claim we have a revenue problem. Please, please please describe what the revenue problem is when the facts are that revenues are at record levels.
What data can you point to that supports your claim there is a revenue problem?

Look at the numbers since the mid 2000s, they have decreased significantly, most notably in the non-renewables due to the decline in natural gas prices and the associated revenues. People still want more services and at a higher quality though, thus requiring different sources of revenue... Thus a revenue problem

Revenues have grown HUGELY in the past decade. Nearly doubling of revenues in that period. Has our populations doubled too? (Answer: Not even close)
Unfortunately, Alberta consistently outspends what we bring in.
