With the weather getting nice the itch to get out again is getting worse and worse. Anyone else out there skate? I can't be the only late 20's guy still skating nowadays.
The Airdrie park has been my go to spot in the last year. Much better than Millennium IMO. There's a lot less wasted space and it just seems to have a better flow overall. Where do you guys go?
Airdrie and Westside are the parks of choice for me and my friends. We also make road trips to Canmore and Invermere for a change of pace. Millenium used to be a great park but the concrete sucks now. Our crew is older (from late 30's up to 50's plus groms) so we prefer to ride smooth concrete.

I haven't made the trip to Canmore or Invermere. What are they like?
I'm more of a manual pad/ledge skater which is why Airdrie has been my go to spot as of late. I stopped skating street years ago. Too much BS. Parks are just so much….simpler.
Hopefully the proposed skateparks by the city go through. It would be nice to have more options closer to town.

You'd like those parks. Probably not as good as Airdrie but there are lots of obstacles that would suit your style. Canmore makes for a good day trip but Invermere pretty much requires a place to stay.
The city's is slowly making progress with the skateboard strategy. We should have new parks as early as next year. Sadly there's no plan for an indoor space, which we need the most, but at least things are in motion.

That makes no sense.
I stopped caring what people think of me along time ago. If someone dislikes me and or what I do, that's their problem and not mine. The only tune I dance to is my own.
Why? Because a bunch of Barbeque Dad's cant understand that some people still enjoy skateboarding in their late 20's/30's/etc?
I never skated myself, but many of my friends did back in the late 90's / early 00's through high school. We're all in our early 30's now. That's absolutely no reason why you should ever stop skating. If you like doing it and you can, why stop? Makes no sense.

uder the category of cool story bro - my friends and i built a skateboard ramp when we were 12 or so, we stred the ramp in the unused corner of a parking lot in a light industrial area close to my house - at times people who were driving by would stop to watch us on the ramp (at the time we thought that was very cool - and we thought we could charge money - ha ha ha).
One day we went to board and the ramp was broken into a bunch of pieces - tha was a very sad day. we never rebuilt the ramp......
see i told you, it was a coll starry bra......

I bought myself one of the 1980 re-issues a year ago. I decided to get back into the game after not skating since my mid/early teens. It has been a slow go. My 8 year old isn't that into it yet so I don't get to go out much.
They build a new skatepark in Lethbridge but it is always packed. I never saw the old skate park because it was way too out of the way.
had an old Hosoi back in the day and a Skull Skates deck. If my kid ever gets into it, I might give it a whirl again. Helped build the first skatepark in Ft McMurray back in the day, my "job" was supervising the halfpipe.
I miss skating. I used to skate from when I was 10 til I was 18. Broke my ankle, and have been scared of getting on one since. I used it through university as transport between classes when it was nice, but that's it.
Always been tempted to buy one again and try. I went to Venice Beach last summer, and stayed and watched the skaters there for 2 hours. What an amazing place to see, and to see how much love there is for the sport. Reminded me why I did it when I was younger
I'm 30 and still skate, have 2 kids but they're too little to get into it a whole ton. The Chestermere skate park is getting an upgrade. They are making the park bigger where it was sitting so I think they are planning on upgrading the skate park too. The half pipe was great when it was first put up there but there was always little groms hanging around sliding down it.
