The Dockers look befuddled. They can't seem to get organized and when they start looking like they do, someone falls or fumbles the ball. And a penalty in the final? Crazy. Hopefully things dry up soon as it's looking scrambly.

Those two awful missed kicks by the Dockers really hurt, now they are falling too far behind

Fremantle look to be in some trouble. They'll need a very good second half. Still lots of time left, obviously, but this is starting to slip away.

#1 Hayden Ballantyne was absolutely awful for the Dockers. I counted at least 5 missed goals that he was directly responsible for. They made it a game in the 3rd quarter but just couldn't keep up the pace after falling so far behind.

It's that time again! The first match has shown up on my cable box guide. Collingwood v. Fremantle will be on TSN2 at 0230 on Friday, March 14th.

Although I can't find the annual TSN press release yet, we can assume that the arrangement will be similar last year : probably one game live and one recorded each week, or two live. The recorded matches don't bother me one bit as most games are at ungodly hours anyway and the PVR takes care of it.

Ladbrokes has Fremantle, Hawthorn, Sydney, and Geelong as the favourites this year :

Fremantle 4.50
Hawthorn 5.00
Sydney Swans 5.50
Geelong 7.00
North Melbourne 13.00
Richmond 15.00
Collingwood 15.00
Carlton 21.00
Essendon 21.00
West Coast Eagles 23.00
Port Adelaide 26.00
Adelaide Crows 34.00
Brisbane Lions 51.00
Gold Coast Suns 67.00
Western Bulldogs 101.00
St Kilda 251.00
Melbourne 251.00
GWS Giants 501.00

Go Geelong!

I've been checking here http://www.afana.com/drupal5/tvsched...er0%5B%5D=tsn2

As they are usually pretty on the ball with the schedule but still no updates.

Looks like TSN2 is showing the Thursday night games, but their online schedule shows nothing else at this point.

I find that Zap 2 It has pretty good accuracy for listings (within the two weeks prior). There appears to be an 1100 Saturday morning (Calgary time) coming up on the 29th of March, which is slightly delayed from its 0230 start time overnight. Hopefully that becomes the trend for coming weeks. I seem to recall that last season we typically got two matches per week.

Note that Zap2It has it listed as "AFL Premiership Football" and my Shaw cable box lists it simply as "Australian Football".

It looks like TSN is settling into a 2-per week schedule now. The next two weekends look like we'll get two matches, and apparently this will continue for the season.

One explanation is that "week 1" was actually spread out across two calendar weeks, so perhaps TSN's deal only allows them to show two matches per "match week" or something. Just speculation on my part.

Also, I came across a video that explains Australian Football. As someone who understands the basics but is far from an expert, I have bookmarked this for watching later (it is 30 minutes!) but thought I'd share:

And speaking of YouTube, if you haven't checked out the official AFL channel, I'd highly recommend it. They have extended highlights of each match, plus a bunch of other stuff. They seem to update it very regularly.

I'm already behind watching week 1 matches, I seem to always be behind all year and try to avoid scores.

I noticed Unblock-US now has support for watchafl.afl.com.au if like me you use Unblock-US for Netlfix this is an added bonus, details here http://support.unblock-us.com/custom...now-supported-

Haven't had the chance to look into it but it looks like a subscription service for those outside of Australia but with Unblock it lets you watch for free making the site think you are in Australia?

Interesting. I'll do some investigating sometime today as I have Unblock-Us. I will report back with my findings.

I too am behind with my matches, although the only one I haven't watched is this week's Sydney match. Not enough time in the day!

A very quick browse looks like AFL Live is $4.99 AUD/week for Australians instead of $15 USD/week for internationals. I'm not sure whether the billing would restrict a non-Australian credit card, however. That's the only difference that I am able to find.

While the thought of having every game live and on demand is quite nice, I'll be honest, there's no way I have time for the two we get on TSN each week! Although my opinion would change somewhat if I were following a particular team like you do, Hanni.

Yeah, I'm plenty fine with PVRing two games a week. Don't need to pay $60 a month for more.

After going back and reading the Unblock article it says "you can watch all the live footy you like inside Australia" so this must be a benefit for Australians more so, I'm thinking some kind of blackout restrictions for Aussies?

Oh well, like you guys I have a hard enough time with the 2 games a week TSN already shows, I just wish they were all Geelong games, but not enough to spend the money for AFL Live.

How many of you ever have thought of going to see local games?

I know a fella that plays. I don't like the sport myself, but I thought you might want to have the chance to see it live.

I have considered it, actually. Thanks for the link! I follow the Calgary Kangaroos on Facebook and I have often thought that it would be an interesting to stop by a match.

So the person that you know that plays - are they an Aussie ex-pat? Or a Canadian that discovered it here?

Canadian, ex-rugby player. Really good guy, even if he did get soft.....

I saw a bit of one of his games last year, they played at a rugby field after my daughter had finished her rugby game(s). As I mentioned, I don't like the game, but you could tell that some of them had skills. It was a mix of expats and canadians. In fact he is a player for the Kangeroos (I just check my facebook).

Was just speculating on that in the FOI thread. It would make sense, as they will need more events to cover. Question, as always, is how much the rights cost and if it is worth it to expand.

Incidentally, I saw the score in the Hawthorn-St. Kilda match last week. Yeesh!
