Many players value community over contention, depends what his family thinks. Maybe he thinks the team can contend in a few years. Maybe he wants to mentor the young guys. Maybe he secretly likes watching Giordano get changed. Who knows.

That reminds me, what player was it, that whipped out his hammer on the dressing room cam a 5 or 6 years back? I was in a bar, and all the guys lol'd, and the women's jaws all hit the floor.
It was like a baby's arm holding an apple.
