Also, Yale doesn't give out athletic scholarships. That's why their NCAA Championship win was such a big deal last year.

Holy crap, did not know this. That's pretty impressive.

I suppose Yale is a bit nicer looking on the ole' CV than Providence, that's for sure.

Maybe I'm still bitter about my university education being an overpriced bust.

Providence sweeps. Moving on to the semis. Congrats to Gillies, Gilmour and Jankowski.

Agostino already turned down an NHL contract from the Flames last summer to finish his degree. Don't think it's a big stretch to see him finish the degree before joining the Flames organization.

Friars win! Friars win! Make it a 4-2 final.

On to the Hockey East semifinals. Their pairing is not yet set, but we know it won't be Boston College (if they win tomorrow).

36 saves on 38 shots for Gillies. Jankowski 9 for 19 in the dot.

Exam period is May 1-6. Commencement on the 19th.

Reset the countdown everyone.

edit: This news about Yale being a good school, Agostino not being on an athletic scholarship, and exams ending in may is pretty disappointing. Means the Heat will likely have to reach the conference finals to have him play this season. I guess I'll just let it go.

Ryan Culkin had a goal tonight. Also something that surprised me is that he's already wearing an "A" for Drummondville although they only acquired him at this year's deadline. Always good to see prospects wear letters.

Coda Gordon has a goal so far.

Emile Poirier didn't play tonight ... injured?

Agostino is free to sign a contract and complete his academic year. His hockey season is over, and his eligibility in the NCAA is done. He loses nothing by signing a contract right now.

Was just going to post the same thing. He may not play, but I'm thinking we'll see a contract signed

If he signs now, he can come straight to Calgary and they don't burn one of their 4 AHL recalls (but he'd still be eligible for the AHL playoffs). Also, he would get his signing bonus and burn a year of his ELC.

I'm sure he'd be able to work out something for completing his courses and finals without having to completely abandon his work for the semester.

A signing would be welcome news, but I think the other posters are right that he'll likely finish school before donning the uniform, and that means he probably won't happen until the fall.

Of course he is... doesn't mean he is going to join the Flames organization right away.

it's an Ivy League degree. Pretty sure it's important to him. Ideally he'll sign a contract right away and finish his degree in the summer if possible (most seniors who turn pro do so I belive), but I won't be surprised if he finishes school first.

Johnny Hockey is obviously a magician, but the guy that continues to impress me is Billy Arnold. The kid is the perfect Brian Burke player. Smart, skilled and uses his body well. On the first goal he is in great defensive support position, jumps on a lose puck, and then quickly transitions the puck up to Gaudreau in full stride with a great tape-to-tape break out pass. One the second he plays the goal line well, putting the puck back to Hayes as soon as he feels the defenders start to collapse which opened the cross ice from Hayes to Johnny. On the third goal Arnold is the guy who begins the play by forcing the puck to be turned over by being hard on the forecheck. This is a player that does everything for his team and just plays smart hockey. Johnny Hockey has us salivating, but don't discount the importance of the other BC player that is likely to sign at the end of the season. Billy Arnold is going to be a great third liner for this team, in the same mold as Carey Wilson.

If Bill Arnold has a long career in Calgary and his contributions to the team are similar to Carey Wilson's first stint with the Flames, I would say that would be one of the best draft successes in Flames history.

Obviously team goals per game back then were ridiculous, but even if it was 75% of those totals, I would be a very very happy fan.

I could see a very functional line of Klimchuk-Arnold-Colbourne in the future. Great on the forecheck, good puck possession and some good talent to finish if opportunity presents itself.

This highlight package shows exactly what Arnold brings - his puck support, his boards play, and his defensive awareness are all really good - I believe NHL-good.

When they won it all two years ago, I thought Gaudreau and Arnold BOTH looked better than Kreider (or at least did more than Kreider to help them win).

I have been a big fan of Arnold's ever since. But I still have the same concern I have had all along: does he have enough speed to be effective in the NHL?

For me, that is the only question. Everything else - including hockey IQ - is there. My fear is that he might be like Nemisz - all the tools, but too slow for the show. Obviously, I hope that isn't the case here, but until we actually see him against NHLers, it will be difficult to tell.
