Because doing business in a have-province, with a strong economy, costs a lot more money than doing business in a have-not province with poor economy. The cost of labour alone is markedly higher due to the increased costs in the standard of living for necessities such as housing. Plus there is an influx of people into the Province of Alberta, this population costs a higher amount to support relative to an established population because capital projects that cost money need to be built, such as schools, roads and hospitals.
Could you provide a link to something that shows increasing revenues relative to the past few years by the way, because everything I have seen indicates lowered resource revenue due to sluggish natural gas prices.
There obviously are inefficiencies, but at the same time does that differ from any other organization?

The fact we are the fasting growing province in Alberta population wise. That said a progressive tax would be a far better idea IMO.

It's turning into bizarro world.

Quote:
The Tory party parted ways with executive director Kelley Charlebois, three sources confirmed to the Herald on Friday evening.
He was not available for comment and party president Jim McCormick did not return phone calls, but the move could open internal divisions within the party.
The intrigue comes as the premier is slated to meet with the PC party board of directors in Calgary today, a meeting one senior member calls “pivotal.”

In response, Redford said Friday she has listened to Albertans and made the best decisions she could.
“I am very confident with respect to party volunteers and party supporters,” she told Global TV. “We don’t always agree in our party. I respect that. He’s certainly entitled to express his opinion. And we’ll move on from here.”

Lukaszuk's tweet with no context seems bizzare, but when you look at his twitter...it seems in the context of policy by the looks of it - i.e. apparently Alberta needs more electricians (and he is the minister of jobs).
I must be missing something?
Unless you meant this one:
Thomas Lukaszuk @LukaszukMLA 5h @lenwebber4mla will always be my friend and I was proud to serve with him at #ableg. He should not be attacked personally. Judge decisions.

She should apologize, what a dumb thing to say. Especially considering that she is apparently the minister in charge of "anti-bullying".
The PC's are coming apart at the seams.

Lukazuk is taking a shot at Sandra Jensen, another pc minister who told the webber guy who left the pc party to goack to being an electrician.
Lukazuk claims webber is a friend and went out of his way to stand up for trades.
Jansen made the crack on national tv. Her portfolio as minister includes anti bullying.

This tweet clarifies his comment
Thomas Lukaszuk@LukaszukMLA5h
Alberta expects to be short 1500 electricians over the next ten years – it is an honourable career path for any Albertan. #ableg

Lukaszuk is usually a dope, but nice to see him stand beside Webber after Jansen's comments - that's what his electrician tweet is referencing, It is really interesting to watch the battle lines forming within the PC party.

All we need now is an appearance from Rob Ford.

We need a poll on how this plays out
A. Redford stays as premier, all is well
B. Redford stays, cabinet shuffle
C. Redford stays, cabinet shuffle and her Premier's office staff is replaced/sacrificed
D. Redford stays, some pc MLAs leave the party
E. redford resigns, leadership race called
F. Redford is forced out but fights to retain leadership through procedural wrangling
G. Redford stays, party in turmoil, spring session is abbreviated as the PCs end it early rather than face more critique in question period
Then a sub poll
A. Jansen removed as minister
B. griffiths removed as minister
C. Johnson removed as minister
D. Lukaszuk runs for leadership
E. former Edm Mayor Stephen Mandell runs for leadership
F. Jim Dinning runs for leadership
G. Gary Mar runs for leadership
H. Rob Anders somehow enters the fray and makes things worse

E. No way she can rein in the party at this point in time. They are going to have to cut bait and have a leadership race.
