(you may not want to answer that haha). But really, how did you spin out then? Just random?
I almost spun out a week or so ago on Anderson and I wasn't speeding. It was just a really icy patch as I was merging. I think my tires being really cold still, as I had just left the house, may have played a factor. But it can definitely happen without excessive speed.

Didn't actually exceed the speed limit, but it was the wet downhill curve heading eastbound on McKnight right before 4 St NW. Never been here in the dark so I just didn't know. I over-corrected.

Not gonna say I never speed, my record is proof otherwise... but this time I actually wasn't. Just unfamiliar with the area. Dove off my usual route and took McKnight because a guy an Audi was tailgating me all the way up 14 St from downtown.

Sounds like the Cop made an assumption based on your record. That said I do wonder what factors he used in giving you that ticket.

McKnight between Deerfoot and Barlow GMG. You know it's super bad when there are hubcaps on the shoulders.

As irritated as I am about the ticket, the cops were nice and jumped to my defence when rubberneckers saw my car, all the cops, saw me, and yelled some pretty racist things about my Mercedes/Audi being stolen. It's a Kia! This is the real reason I kinda want to just pay the ticket and forget about this night. The lady cop was particularly nice and seemed to be second guessing the ticket, but got overruled by the boys and she wrote the ticket anyway.

Yeah you really need to fight, if only to make it absolutely clear to her (and hopefully the people who "overruled" her) that you can't issue a ticket based on the guess that someone might have done something.

Christ.

"So you swerved over into the oncoming traffic lane and then spun out and caused an accident? Sounds like you were intoxicated. Here's a suspension."
"No, there was a deer in the road, I was trying-"
"Case closed! Sorry! Who needs a breathalizer? This is much easier."

Tonight, a good Samaritan RGMG.
That was you? I drove by on the way to hockey, I think you were sitting in your car at the time.

Thanks for posting this, at the time I thought to myself "How did this idiot manage to do that?" Sorry for making fun of you in my head.

With the drastic temperature change, some areas have become very treacherous as soon as the sun goes down. I hit an off ramp on Sunday night and pitched sideways. I was lucky enough to correct the slide, I would have hit a concrete wall instead of a median.

Coming home later on, saw another vehicle on a different street do a total 360 after they hit some ice as well. Be careful out there.

If I recall correctly there didn't look to be any ice near Acey, I think it's just because that stretch of McKnight between John Laurie and 4th is garbage. It's like driving on the moon sometimes.

I know that stretch of road, it's like driving a slalom course. Maybe there was some loose gravel, who knows.

Yeah I don't think there was any ice, just a bit of water and maybe gravel. I've only ever had FWD cars, this is my 4th one... and I've never had anything happen. FWD will usually just predictably understeer when you start to lose traction and it's easy to correct, but this time it was a violent swerve I wasn't expecting and overreacted.

What's really funny about your story is there is an ambulance barn on the corner of 4th and McKnight, they could have just walked over.

The problem with an unreasonalbe speed ticket is that they might not have to prove you were speeding. Check the exact wording of the statute you are charged under and fight it on that basis. The Police argument will likely be you were driving to fast and that caused an accident. And based on the statute that might be enough as you didn't get a speeding ticket.

So you need to establish what a reasonable speed given road an wether conditions were and then force the cop to prove you were exceeding it.

Acey, are you sure that another vehicle didn't cut you off? It looked to me like another vehicle cut you off, caused you to take emergancy action to avoid a collision, which resulted in your loss of control........

The problem is Acey has already been suspended from driving once, he will be hard pressed to find a judge that will give him a break.

Some guy at IKEA left his baby and toddler in his car to get a f***ing hotdog. I parked beside his vehicle and noticed the little ones in there. The toddler was free to walk around in the vehicle and was poking at the baby. Got security out there and they were actively dialling 9-1-1 when the guy saunters over with mustard on his face and a hotdog. wTF. Never been so close to clocking somebody. I told him just how close he was to being embarrassed with Cops showing up. He just said "ok" and drove off.

I wish I knew how to contact his wife. She would tune him in good.

Plus, no one bothers snooping around your vehicle when you run in for a Costco dog.

The inevitable "Wow what a blockbuster" post in any thread about a minor trade.

Yes we get it, it's not a big trade.
