The Tampa Bay Bears sign Josh McCown for 2 years and $10 million. Lovie clearly hasn't learned anything and I guess I should start asking DropIt for pointers on how to deal with being a Bears fan in the Lovie era.

This is all going to come back to bite Denver in the ass once Peyton retires, right?! Those are some rich rich contracts!

Damn somehow the Broncos are better than last year which is crazy... and they've released Decker!
D. Revis was released by the Buc about 45 minutes ago, I wonder where he goes, probably the Pats now that Talib is gone.

What else are the Broncos suppose to do? They need to win now, and to make the changes required could only be done through free agency. Clearly their weakness was defense, which they've addressed that adding three impact starters in the spots that need them the most. Their run defense was good last year, and the pass defense is should better. If Ware and Miller perform, the defense should get more pressure on the QBs this season which was the main issue.

You can carry unused cap over to next year?
Broncos still have a lot to spend?

The thing with the NFL is that drafting well and signing UFA's are not mutually exclusive.
Being a good team in the short term does not prohibit you from building through the draft like it does in the other leagues (NHL and NBA specificially).
The Broncos can sign these UFAs and still get impact players with their picks this year making them even better for next year.
It is when you start trading draft picks for overprices veterans that you run into trouble in the NFL (Hello Oakland).

No faith in my boy Osweiler?
Actually, there was an article circulating somewhere a few weeks ago that said that 4 teams had contacted Denver about trading for Osweiler since the Super Bowl. The Broncos aren't interested in moving him.
I'm excited for his time to come, Montana boy and all, but I'm going to try to enjoy these next couple of seasons with Manning more than I did last season.

Denver wont get rid of Osweiler because one good hit and Manning may have to retire

Von Miller is on his rookie deal
Welker signed for a discount
Champ Bailey was cut
They will likely let Decker walk, bringing Caldwell back
Also, a lot of their defensive players are on friendly deals
The size of Talib's deal probably also means Rodgers-Cromartie is gone, barring something unexpected

Already over $300mil spent in guaranteed money this year compared to just over $100 mil all of last season. As usual, cap goes up crazy money gets spent.
I have liked the Eagles moves so far. Nothing flashy but some talent that can challenge the current guys. Don't expect too much more in free agency from them.
I also think ex Eagle Jason Avant would be an excellent fit in Denver or New England. Very underrated slot receiver that is an excellent blocker.

Denver isn't executing the Dan Snyder model. The Dan Snyder model is to have no core, no real pieces in place, and think you will do that through random, older UFA's.
There are always be a handful of teams that have a window defined by the remaining shelf life of a top their QB and they mortgage the future to try and win inside that window. Denver is doing it, New Orleans is doing it, makes sense. You don't want a mediocre team surrounded by the top tier QB, that's just a waste of a QB.

The big question is always team chemistry, and it generally seems to wind up lacking on these teams that try to win it all through free agency. Look at the Eagles of three years ago. They brought in a tonne of guys with good pedigree but they didn't mesh. A lot of the Philly beat writers talked about how there was a lot of resentment from some of the existing players who saw these new guys come in and be handed starting jobs and big paycheques.
I'm not saying this is guaranteed to happen with the Broncos but there is some precedent here.

Who is Denver's core exactly behind an ageing Manning and Von Miller?
Does DeMarcus Ware not have Bruce Smith potentially written on him? Are you saying there aren't any question marks surrounding Talib and Ward?
EDIT: Look at some of Snyder's signings and tell me there aren't some parallels.
1. DeAngelo Hall - Aqib Talib
2. Adam Archuleta - TJ Ward
3. DeMarcus Ware - Bruce Smith

Bryant gone to Jax, Giacomini now to the Jets. Clemons released.
Some holes to fill for Seattle. Bryant was a good warrior while with the team. Breno was a hot head always good for a penalty or two per game, but, good to have in the trenches as he could be as dirty as anyone.
Chris Clemons the big loss...him coming back last year after getting injured in the same game that RG3 did, thanks to that terrible field in Washington in the Wild Card 2 seasons ago, was huge.
If he didn't get hurt that game, I think Seattle gets by Atlanta that next week, as they got no rush on Ryan, and Clemons was the only rusher they had...rectified last year adding Bennett and Avril.
Talk about Jared Allen maybe to fill Clemons spot. Jermichael Finlay had a fitness test today with Seattle, though am fine with the TE's they have already.
Tate likely to go as well...he, like many average players, want to cash in on the small window that comes notoriety of the SB appearance, in addition to now getting that ring and crossing that off the list.
Can't do anything but trust Schiender and Carroll to fill those spots with the next man up, they've done literally a thousand transactions in the 4 years they've been in Seattle, and have found (and coached out) those diamonds in the rough (ie Browner) and drafted solid players in late rounds.
