I've always thought she was unsuitable to not only provincial politics but politics as a whole, she comes across as a pretty unpleasant and arrogant person and now she's being flayed alive and not handling it well.

I thought that she was going to ride an oil and gas recovery in Alberta into the Prime Minister's job. Unfortunately for her I don't think she will be around long enough to take credit for the recovery.

She's pretty much a Bob Rae style Liberal.
and nobody was ever going to put him in the Prime Ministers office.

I read an interesting analysis in the months after the election that the WR support really softened in Calgary and Edmonton after Smith used some climate denialist language. There was a poll conducted before and after those statements by coincidence that seems to indicate that. It was no surprise then that one of the first mea culpa's of the party after the election was to unequivocally say that they believed in climate science.

I think it was more a culmilation of gaffes and negative news that gave some voters cold feet at the last minute. The climate stuff may have been a contributing factor but I highly doubt it was the primary factor.

Edmonton is a pretty liberal city, nothing like Southern Alberta. WR was never going to get much of the votes there.

Redford may have another travel bump ahead. Herald reporting inefficient use of planes - planes going to the same city, half empty, within an hour of each other instead of consolidating and using the same plane - but also the WR has uncovered conflicting language put out by Redford's office on a trip to Grande Prairie. On one hand there is a document submitted saying they were there for government meetings, but then there is another document which apparently says there was no meetings, but instead there was a $250/plate PC Fundraising dinner.
Can't use gov't funds for party purposes.

They were talking about that on the radio on the way home. The hits just keep on coming.

Alberta Premier Alison Redford is facing new accusations she used taxpayer-funded government aircraft to attend a Progressive Conservative party fundraiser. The Opposition Wildrose says a flight manifest from Oct. 25, 2012, shows Redford and some cabinet ministers flew to Grande Prairie just an hour before a party fundraising dinner.
Redford and other ministers also caught the plane back to Edmonton.
The reason for the visit, according to the manifest, was a meeting with government officials.
Health Minister Fred Horne, who was on the trip, says it was to announce an expansion of the Grande Prairie hospital.
The government put out a news release on the expansion, but there is no evidence of a formal news conference.

Jeesh at what point can you honestly say her reign as Premier is a worse disaster than Honest Ed?
Two brutal premiers in a row.

Day 1.
Some of us saw she was just an opportunist before she was elected, when she suckered union members in to joining the PCs to vote for her.

Rumour has it that Cabinet is lining up to oust Redford in the Cabinet Meeting tomorrow.
But how many times did we hear that about Stelmach before it finally happened?

Can they do that?
She just passed a leadership vote.

They can't like they can in the UK or Australia, but they can certainly put the requisite pressure on her like Morton did to Stelmach in 2011.

I figured that Redford pulled a fast one in the conflict of interest accusations when selecting that law firm for the Tabacco Litigation, but its starting to feel like she's way more then stupid and arrogant, she's bordering on stupid, arrogant and corrupt.
If this accusation is true, her party needs to find a way to fire her.

These aren't mistakes, she knows the rules, and ignorance of them isn't an excuse. We're moving into heavy corruption allegations.
She knows that she can't use the plane for PC business, she knows that there wasn't a formal announcement happening.
