Having just gone through a similar campaign in Canyon Meadows I have to say the noise generated by the "no towers! It'll destroy our neighbourhood!" crowd was much more of an inconvenience & annoyance than the actual tower itself has ended up being.
For months & months there was signs, banners, pamphlets, newsletters etc touting how horrible this tower would be for the community. It was going to destroy property values, be an eyesore and even cook our brains! (they dropped the health angle once it came out that there was already a tower built into the church on the same lot)
Anyways, the tower was built and honestly I can barely notice it, and when I do all I think is "really? All that noise was generated over that?". All those tacky yellow signs along the medians, all the light poles plastered in paper, all those deliveries to my house were much more of a nuisance than the tower.
Anyways, pick your battles, etc.

If they'd pay me, I'd let Telus build a tower in my back yard. They can frack it, too.

Isn't there already a cell tower in Woodlands near Hull Home, just south of Anderson?

The more caps, bolds, italics, colors, underlines, and weird spacing you use in your community flyer, the better. Don't be afraid to pile it on.

I'm disappointed it wasn't written in Comic Sans.

That was hilarious. I think after the tower was approved and construction started, a sign was put there saying something like "386 people protested, AND THE GOV'T DIDN'T LISTEN!". 386 people....out of how many thousands that live in that proximity? Great odds they've got haha.

Do you think Telus really wants to waste money building unneeded towers?
Or should I just blindly trust your biased, anecdotal interpretation of events.

Just don't be sore losers like the Canyon Meadows people and spam the neighborhood with signs like Iggy City mentioned. It's not the City's fault they didn't read up on the process before getting outraged over a minor thing on property they didn't own, or anything.
Also, please don't use the health angle, since there's no hard evidence they can provide to convince anyone that they're all going to get cancer or burns on their skin from this tower.

Maybe it is just me, but a pole in a field is a lot easier on the eyes than some of those "hidden" monstrosities on churches. This could be a case of "be careful what you wish for" as Telus will just find a willing church or shopping mall, throw them a wad of cash, and you've just got something uglier and closer to houses.
Telus pays the city to put one of these in a park, right? Is this not better than having the payment go to a private entity like a church or a mall owner?

I do wonder why they don't just stick it on top of the Safeway or something rather than a green space where it will stick out like a sore thumb. Knowing Telus as I do I bet it comes down to costs. Saves them having to lease roof space.

Also, I think I could get behind them disguising it. Maybe a giant phallus shaped tower or a giant hand giving the community the finger?

Wow, what great insight you have into the mind of a corporate menace.
Imagine, a company or person might take the cost of something into consideration when they want to buy/build something new.
