They are probably enjoying their new found international fame from this tragedy. What a pig of human beings.

This investigation is quite the gong show.

This contradicts with earlier reports that the aircraft had disappeared from radar screens 120 nautical miles off Kota Bharu and over the South China Sea, at 1.30am on March 8.
The straight of Malacca makes no sense, because it's such a heavily traversed shipping/boating zone. Surely if there were wreckage there, it would have been noticed by now?
Did they fly well past that area and are now somewhere in the Indian Ocean or beyond?

When I heard about MH370s disappearance, I had a feeling this was going to be a gong show. Why? Because in Malaysia, everything is a gong show. My fb and twitter feeds of friends and relatives in Malaysia pre-empted all this by predicting what a mess this investigation is going to be. Malaysians are just not reliable when it comes to investigating something that is of this magnitude.

If the plane did turn back then I think it could be a hijacking gone wrong. The hijackers could have forced the pilots to turn off all communications until the plane reach a certain location.
If they hijack a plane with predominately Chinese nationals, the hijackers could have had a beef with the Chinese.
If the plane did turn west, the Indian ocean is a good guess. The Malaka strait seems to be well travelled by boats and planes not to have anyone spotted anything for 4 days.

If it made it out to the Indian Ocean, it may never be found.

Or could it be they lost power and tried to glide back? The distance doesn't make any sense though, there's no way they glide back that far (as far as I know the glide potential is like 150km?). So getting all the way to the strait wouldn't seem possible. Also, if they did try to glide, it would have been better to just go to Vietnam.
It's totally odd.

Losing power is not really an explanation for no communication. Without power (no engines) the Gimli glider and the Air Transat flights managed to communicate using battery power and Ram air turbines.
Shutting off the transponder and then maintaining radio silence for at least an hour points to highjacking.

I am tending to think that your first scenario is the most likely, but coupled with a lack of oxygen.
Perhaps an uncontrolled electrical fire that disabled the backup oxygen system. Or a sudden decompression event. Either way, within a minute or so, everyone and everything is knocked out, but the plane keeps flying until it runs out of fuel or hits something.

Stupid question... All of our company vehicles are equipped with gps transmitters. My employer can find any vehicle at any given time. Why not planes?

has any brought forward a credible theory involving alinens? and i don't mean the one that are bent on probing, but the type of aliens that would want to steal our technology?
my other thought that that somewhere along the flightpath a portal to an alternate universe exsists.
discuss?

If aliens can make a plane disappear then I am sure they are more technologically advanced than us so they wouldn't need to steal anything from us.
But at this point with no certain answers anything can be possible.

If aliens can make our plane disappear into thin air, why would they need to steal such obsolete technology?

Cost. It would have to be satellite based. Airlines not willing to spend the money.
At my company we are able to "ping" the aircraft thru the ACARS system. Tells us position, altitude, fuel etc. This works thru VHF or SATCOM but must be initiated by us. It's not automatic. There are quite a few automatic reports but in cruise it's mostly as the plane goes over a flight plan waypoint.

I can't imagine coming all the way from another galaxy to steal a crappy earth plane.
But seriously, this is pretty messed up.

maybe something like the Swissair crash off Peggy's Cove in 1998?

Something about the Iranian nationals/fake passport peeps that I don't understand is that they used authentic passports to travel to Kuala Lumpur. They then used stolen passports to board this flight. Still not sure I believe they had any wrongdoings, but why use fake passports when you have real ones?
