I know this thread has gotten a little off track but it just feels so good to see where the flames are now and where they are heading in terms of the young players they have and the way they are developing them... Brodie, Backlund, Monahan, gaudreau, baertschi, poirier, Wotherspoon, granlund, Reinhart, knight, gillies... I know I'm forgetting a few.
The oilers and Canucks WISH they had things going in the right direction the way the flames do. Neither of them have the prospect depth that the flames have now and neither have developed their talent the right way like the flames have been doing.

And to top it off... The flames have already developed an identity as a hard-working, sacrificing, merit-based team that plays with a ton of pride no matter who the opponent is. No divers, whiners, or hot-shot goal celebrations from these kids. And we already have the makings of a perfect captain in Monahan to take the reigns from an awesome captain in giordano.

EVERY player is "one hit away" from ending his career. Lindros is the perfect proof of that. No one thought "he's too small, he will get killed out there", but he was. Even Crosby was nearly taken out by one hit. I do worry about Monahan getting hit out there, but I just kinda worry about all our guys on the ice.

That should be re-tweeted to the Oilers 4. "Backchecking".

That's the first time I've ever laughed at a tweet from that account.

By the way, why are some players wearing the Nieuwendyk jerseys and some not?

They all have Niewendyk and 25 on the back, but have their numbers on the arms.

Please say that they are only wearing them like that for the ceremony and not the actual game.

Pergamum skate I believe. Ceremony is a possibility unless they intend to drop the puck right away.

Good. I didn't think they would wear them but.. The organization s jersey choices have not been actually sane.
