Ugh Joey MacDonald, terrible goaltender. Hopefully we don't see him in game action.

They are only really missing a goaltender.

I'm guessing Lamb and Smith are going to move up to forward. Lamb has had to do this once before and based on the options, I think Smith would probably be slotting in as a forward.

My best educated guess would be these are the lines for tonight for Heat:

Baertschi-Street-Jooris
Olson-Locke-Kremyr
Elson-Jones-Smith
Lamb-Bancks-Gillies

SOB - Wotherspoon
Billins - Arsene
LaFranchise – Breen

AHL page shows Grandlund and Ortio being sent down. Not sure if that's new or not - tough to keep up on a day like this.

I think they have to send them down today on paper to make sure they are eligible for the AHL playoffs. Reinhart, Knight and Hanowski may be exempt from due to emergency recall? Pretty confusing.

Paper Transaction to keep them eligible for the Heat's playoff run. If you look now, it also shows Reinhart and Knight called up, sent down and called up. All just to make them available to the Heat. Hanowski was called up after the trade deadline so he is after the cut-off.

Ortio, Granlund, Hanowski, Knight, Reinhart, Backlund, Brodie, Buoma and Monahan.. that's a line up a prefer watching. Going to be tough to eek out wins down the stretch and maybe that's a good thing but it should be a lot more interesting to tune in to.

The Islanders, Sabres and Oilers are going to be in an absolute free fall. I'd prefer letting the players you listed get the remainder of the games, but it's going to be ugly. A bright spot is that Luongo may steal enough games for Florida to keep them above the Flames.

Yeah but horrible teams can pick up some weird wins down the stretch. We did last year. EDM got a few key ones last year to pass us again in the end. Sabres have gone on a bit of a run lately.

Gonna be an interesting race at the bottom of the standings.

Yeah, like last year, you get a bunch of kids running on adrenaline and they can surprise. So far tonight is a good example.

Someone can correct me on this as I don't have the exact wording, but I believe what he said was to the effect that the players in front of him weren't trying and that he felt losing the game (I can't remember against who, I think it might have been MIN) wasn't just on him.

It appeared to not be received so well from management.

I believe this was his quote to the Sun/Herald following the game and the evening prior to his demotion:

Quote:
"The first period, we did a lot of standing around and watching," said MacDonald. "There wasn't a whole lot going on. We were watching (Pavel) Datsyuk and (Henrik) Zetterberg and (Todd) Bertuzzi pass the puck around. You can do that with guys like that. Look what happens - they find back doors, they find seams. In the second period, we were a lot better. Then in the third, you know what? I didn't think we had much. I know they got that lucky goal, but we've got to turn around and get some chances. I thought we just sat back and played the majority of play in our own end. You can't do that."

He had been playing exceptionally bad at the time. He was probably the worst Flame on the ice that night. That lucky goal he is referencing - was completely his fault. Also, there were reports that he had come to training camp out of shape. All probably contributing factors
